Big Sandy Homecoming

Big Sandy Homecoming Big Sandy Homecoming celebrates Big Sandy High School graduates, families and friends with a sesquicentennial event in Big Sandy, Montana.

Keep in touch and enjoy the unique small town nostalgia during the three-day extravaganza. Home, hometown, and homecoming are words that have special meaning for folks who have lived in and around Big Sandy, Montana. Every five years, the town swells to three or four times it's average daily population for a celebration that centers on Big Sandy High School. As the longstanding hub of our small to

wn, it's a common denominator among generations of folks who have, even if only for a little while, called Big Sandy home. It's quite common for folks who call it home at all to call it home forever, even when they move on and live far away. Our 'people' are spread far and wide around the globe, and it's not uncommon for us to make connections anywhere we go. Generations of Big Sandy High School graduates have remained dedicated to keeping this unique tradition alive. There is never a shortage of local couples to choose from when it's time for an active Homecoming Committee to select the incoming men and women who will foster that community celebration for the next five years. It takes a great committee AND hundreds of people who love to come home again to rekindle old friendships and relive old memories. The Committee for 2020:

Cue the trumpets!!! Beat the drums!!! Roll out the red carpet!!!

ANNOUNCING THE 2030 HOMECOMING COMMITTEE!!!

The 2025 Big Sandy Homecoming Committee is thrilled to announce the members of the 2030 Homecoming Committee!
As you may recall, we initially requested volunteers for the 2030 committee and received one — Shon Tester! To ensure a successful event, we approached additional individuals. In a break from previous tradition, some of these new members are not Big Sandy Alumni. This marks an exciting precedent, shifting Homecoming from a purely school event to a broader community celebration.
The individuals we "volun-told" about their new positions were very accepting and bring a highly positive outlook to this opportunity.
The committee that will lead you into the June 21-23, 2030 Homecoming are:
● Shon Tester
● Nick and Shandell Briese
● CJ and Katie Hansen
● Nathan and Mary Merrill
● Darin and Carissa Ray
Please welcome them and continue to offer your assistance in any way you can. And remember, if they ask for your help, please step forward—this is a community event!

So sorry to raise the alarm, but apparently the Big Sandy Homecoming website has been hijacked. Please be very careful with ANY messaging that appears to come from that website. In fact, you should have NONE, so treat any messaging that comes from that site as spam, virus, malware, all the dangerous things. I am working to get things recovered, but can make no promises that the website will survive the process in it's current form.

Hang in there with me! I will do my very best to protect you and recover our site!

PURPLE HAZE by Shon Tester

They dropped us off with love in their hearts, looked us in the eye and said this is where it all starts.

With hope in their voice they glanced at the teacher, giggled and said, let us know if you need a preacher.

That first year was tough. Little kids are rough.

And we quickly learned to never call the teachers bluff.

Summer came and we thought we had it all, until we realized we had to go back in the fall.

Our parents reminded us it is worth it. Get back to school and learn how to work it.

You’re growing up to not be a fool. So get used to the smell of FE Miley school.

With half buried tires and a searing hot slide, we survived the playground rebuilt in ‘95.

High school hall is next where we walk. Dodging the seniors, afraid to talk.

We adjusted well, we got into our groove. And between the classes, we knew how to move.

Concerts and games brought folks in by hordes. We witnessed the extinction of those green chalkboards.

We ran our mouths and argued our case, but usually wound up with an eraser in our face.

High school was a lot. It made our heads spin. But boy did we love the victory with every win..

As you fight about a class color, you’ll realize these folks are like no other. Be it good or be it bad I pray for you it was not once sad.

18 years you know them well. You slap ‘em ‘round, you give them Hell!

You know their head and you know their heart and you especially know the smell of their fart.

Life moves on and you’ll go your separate ways. You’ll think back fondly on all your crazy days. Leaving behind quite the sensation for the next bizzar generation.

Then college began and life got crazy. We quickly learned, now is not the time to be lazy.

Life rocked off it become a roller coaster. So we buckled up tight and keep our hand on our holster.

Then We got a little older, more than we admit. Then we faced up to reality, this isn’t it.

Life went faster, you became better than the rest. At the end of the day, you can pass a Mensa test.

As my grandmother once told, getting old is starting to get old

Life is precious. It’s something to behold.

And your heart will sing every time you see the purple and gold.

You may have that one fateful day, where you hold the hand of a classmate, who’s slipping away.

It’ll make you stumble, it will make you fall.

Your fellow mates, they will be your rock, they will be your wall.

And then one day it will be just a few. At a table for many will sit only two. You’ll laugh and you’ll cry and you’ll remember your days, through lens of gold with purple haze.

The Homecoming Committee would like to THANK the countless people who helped make the weekend of June 20-22 a special event. Your willingness to gather addresses, plan events, clean up the town, haul and set up, clean up, create floats and offer hospitality to classmates, family and friends, etc. allowed a multitude to follow All Roads Home to celebrate the heart of Big Sandy, our Pioneers! We are looking forward to sunnier weather in 2030!

Time to show some town pride!
We’re sprucing up the town for the big 5 year celebration.
Our crew will be starting Monday(tomorrow) mowing, w**d whacking, trimming, and picking up trash. We could really use some extra hands.
Jump on your mower, grab your w**d whacker, put on some gloves, and bring a trailer if you’ve got one. Let’s get it done!
And please be respectful of others property. Ask the landowner before offering help.

Howdy Pioneers! Shon here! Our Homecoming hullabaloo is coming up, and I've been tasked with creating our program. I need your help. I need pictures of everything: Active Curriculum/extracurricular, awards, and graduation. All the things from your past. Flood me with your photos! If you have notes that go with them, please include those. Thank you so much. Pioneers, and I'll see you at the program, and hopefully you'll see yourself IN the program. (Even the embarrassing pictures that cause a room to laugh ARE a must.) You can share them via Facebook Messenger to Big Sandy Homecoming or email them to
