ALERT Cadet

ALERT Cadet Many enter the responsibilities of fatherhood with the honest intention of being a good father.

The ALERT Cadet program is an outgrowth of the ALERT program, with the vision to raise up godly young men who would be “Strong to Overcome” the evil one, from 1 John 2:13, and mighty in spirit. In reality, however, it is easy to become consumed by more pressing matters while children take a back seat to careers, other responsibilities, and even good activities. What a blessing it would be to look

back with no regrets on the time that you have had with your sons. The ALERT Cadet program is a tool standing ready for you to use in growing with your sons toward spiritual maturity. One of the greatest benefits of the ALERT Cadet program is the opportunity for fathers to spend one-on-one time with their sons. As a Christian organization, ALERT Cadet holds to the truths taught in the Bible.

It’s always a good time. Flashback to Memorial Day weekend and the Father and Son camp in NH. Together these men prayed and studied the Word, they also split and hauled fire wood, cooked over a campfire, drilled and shot bows(they made) and arrows.

Strong to overcome.
“For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”

Our world seems dominated by an overwhelming sense of “lostness” - truth has little value, right is called wrong and there are a multitude of paths leading in all the wrong directions. This isn’t the first time in history cultures have turned their backs on God and suffered the harsh consequences. Our current spiritual climate mirrors many stories in the Old Testament and it is deeply saddening to watch it happen.  Hope may be hard to come by for us Christians as we wonder if the people of the world will ever find their way back to God.
There is HOPE!  It is found in Way, the Truth and the Life – Jesus Christ. God’s ways are the only good ways where we can fulfill our purpose to bring Him honor and glory.  I believe a message we need to hear and answer is the same message God sent through Jeremiah during a national rejection of God: “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls…” (Jeremiah 6:16a).   Only in God’s paths will we find answers, direction and hope.  (See II Chronicles 14-15 and 34-35)
My challenge for all of us during the world's massive migration away from God, is to stand, ask God for the old paths, where there is the good way, and walk in them.  Let’s diligently continue to build on the foundation of God’s word and the Cornerstone of His Kingdom, training our sons and daughters to know and walk in the truth, joy and blessings of God’s word.  Then the world will see and know the one true and living God, and His Son Jesus Christ.
