The Pencil Granny & Friends In many countries children can not attend school without pencils and other supplies. Our goal is to For days I thought about it while I drove. LOL! No rules!

What first got me on the road to becoming the Pencil Granny was the story I read about the teacher in Brazil ( Thank you Stephanie @ Shoebox Shopper) cutting a pencil into 8 pieces so more of her students could do the lessons. I shared it with the future Pencil Papa and he wondered how a child could write with something so small. He asked me " We can do something to help can't we?" We starting mak

ing filler packs for 2015 collection but it was already August. We sent 468 packs - the beginning seeds of something BIG. Driving the truck I have plenty of time to think , the radio is either on sermons, Christian Southern Gospel or the Message. In prayer wondering how to better help the children I clearly heard God give me a goal of 8000 pencil packs. I wrote it on our white board "I believe 8000" Hubby did the math, thought about it & decided we could manage 8000 pencils. Well God does not give us the idea without equipping us. I asked the girls (daughters) to share In case anyone might want to help. The grandkids were already calling me Pencil Granny because every time we went to the store at least 1 package came home

We set up the page "the Pencil Granny" in hopes some people might want to send supplies. Christmas 2015 we had 100 likes & people were asking " How can I help?". The page became "The Pencil Granny & Friends". We wrote up a list of suggestions. We stress prayer. Pray and God will lead you. He'll inspire you to send what's needed. We also request they still pack their shoeboxes. THIS IS EXTRA! Again PRAY! God sends you the means to buy supplies. Spread the word with friends & family of what you need. When your shoeboxes are turned in at collection sites or when you volunteer at a PC, turn in your filler packs, this way every PC gets some. Pack in any NON-SHOEBOX size box labeled as OCC FILLER. We have made box labels if people chose to use them. Our goal is that every child receives school supplies so no child is turned away from attending school due to lack of supplies. Whether you can pack 1 pencil pack or 1000, please join us!

WHAT FUN BLESSINGS HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING ON THIS WEEK? I have been filling totes full of minis, I already have some filled with pouches and 6×10" packs. Later I will box them up. I like to put 60 minis, 2 big pouches, 2 small pouches and two 6"×10" in each of my 10"×10"×10" boxes. After these are boxed up I plan to do fifty 2.5" ×10" packs with Dr Seuss pencils plus I have Dr Seuss bookmarkers and erasers to go in.

The parts to fix Patrick's truck have not been delivered yet. They are expecting them this afternoon and hope to have it fixed early tomorrow. He will wake up on his birthday in the hotel again. He is getting bored! Praying part comes in undamaged ( last month a new transmission came in damaged and had to be reordered) . Almost a million miles on the truck.

Right after I filled my pencil cart a wheel came off. ARGH! What fun trying to keep it from tipping over while I pulled 60 cubes 3"×3" and 4 baskets off. I found another wheel dangerously loose. I guess all the turning the cart around while I filled packs worked them loose. Cleaned the hair/ fur off the wheels while I was at it. Moral of the story- check your wheels every so often.
