🚒❤️ A HUGE THANK YOU FROM PRITCHETT VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT! ❤️🚒

What a wonderful evening at National Night Out 2026! We had the best turn out! We want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone who came out, spent time with us, shared a meal, visited, and supported our department and our community. Your presence means more to us than you know!

A very special thank you to the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office for coming out and spending the evening with our community. We are grateful for the work you do to keep our county safe and for taking the time to connect with the people you serve. 💙

We also want to give a huge shoutout to Upshur County Dispatch. The people on the other end of the radio are such an important part of every emergency response, and we appreciate everything you do for our firefighters and our community. 📞🚨

And we cannot forget the Pritchett Community Center! Thank you for all of your help in making tonight possible and for continuing to support events that bring our community together. ❤️

Most importantly, thank you to our community. Whether you came for the food, brought your kids, talked with our firefighters, asked questions, made a donation, or simply stopped by to show your support — we are grateful for every single one of you.

Tonight was a reminder of what makes the Pritchett community so special. When we come together, we make our community stronger. 🇺🇸

From all of us at Pritchett Volunteer Fire Department — THANK YOU! We are proud to serve you, and we are even more proud to call this community home. 🚒❤️

Pritchett Strong. Community Strong.

🔥 BURN BAN HAS BEEN LIFTED FOR UPSHUR COUNTY!🔥

The burn ban has officially been lifted, and we know many of you may be ready to get back to outdoor burning. However, please continue to use extreme caution and burn responsibly.

Even with the ban lifted, conditions can change quickly. Before you burn:

• Check the weather and wind conditions.
• Keep a water source and tools nearby.
• Never leave a fire unattended.
• Keep your burn area clear of dry grass, leaves, and other flammable materials.
• Avoid burning on windy days or when conditions are especially dry.
• Make sure your fire is completely extinguished before leaving the area.
• If your fire gets out of control, call 911 immediately and do not put yourself in danger.

The lifting of the burn ban does not mean there is no fire danger. A little extra caution can prevent a small burn pile from becoming a large emergency.

Please burn smart, burn safe, and help us keep our community protected. 🚒🔥

🚨 BURN BAN REMINDER — PLEASE READ 🚨

Our county is still under a burn ban, and we want to remind everyone that the ban is in place for a reason.

Just a few minutes after the rain started, our department was called out to an illegal burn pile. 🌧️🔥

Even when we receive rain, conditions can remain extremely dry, and an unattended or improperly burning pile can quickly become a serious fire hazard.

Please do not burn while the burn ban is in effect. A little rain does not mean the danger is gone, and an illegal burn can put your property, your neighbors, and our firefighters at risk.

We understand that everyone has things that need to be taken care of, but please wait until the burn ban has been lifted before burning.

🔥 Help us keep our community safe. Don’t burn during the ban.
🚒 Stay safe. Stay responsible. Protect our community.

9/27 at approximately 9pm Pritchett VFD was dispatched to a report of heavy gas smell in the area on Blair Rd. After continuously searching sites we were able to locate a leak at one on 1404. We called in additional units from Simpsonville and Pleasant Grove and continued further investigation to find the exact source with hazmat on standby and a tech in route to shut the line down. Thankfully hazmat was able to disregard due to the conditions officially declared as lack of severity. One of our members were treated for exposure on site by EMS as a safety precaution and we are happy to report they have been declared stable. The line was shut down and everyone was able to clear scene safely.

Tonight was an example of its better to have recourses enroute and not need them as well as everyone goes home. This is also a lesson that even the families in our community can use at home. We’d rather respond and not be needed than respond and it’s too late. Families please take into consideration of creating action plans and practicing exit routes amongst yourselves. Our true dry season and winter is approaching, implementing action plans and a system for head counts will aid in helping make sure “everyone goes home”

🇺🇸SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 — WE REMEMBER 🇺🇸

Today, we don't just remember a date in history. We remember our brothers and sisters who answered the call and never came home.

On September 11, 2001, firefighters, EMS, law enforcement, and civilians faced a moment none of them could have imagined. Among them were 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while doing what they had sworn to do.
Protect and serve others.

As members of the fire service, their story hits differently.

We know what it means to hear the tones, climb onto a truck, leave our families behind, and go toward the very thing everyone else is trying to escape. We know the feeling of standing beside the people we serve in the time of need and those that serve with us. All trusting that when the call comes, we will be there for one another.

That's why today we don't simply say,
“Never Forget.”

We remember the firefighters who walked into those buildings.
We remember the voices that answered the radio.
We remember the families waiting for loved ones who never returned home.
And we remember the sacrifice that forever changed the fire service and those supporting
From our firehouse to theirs:

We remember you.
We honor you.
We carry your memory with us every time we answer the call.

❤️💙🇺🇸 25 years later, your sacrifice still matters.
Your names still matter.
You are still remembered.

Pritchett Volunteer Fire Department
