From being initiated in Fall 2015 to serving on the Alumni Advisory Board beginning in 2017 and later becoming our High Pi in 2023, Travis has shown unwavering dedication to Iota-Psi Zeta. His mentorship, leadership, and care for this chapter continue to make a positive difference in the lives of our brothers.

Did you know that the Creed of Lambda Chi Alpha was once considered secret?

The evidence suggests that the Creed was developed in or around 1925 in advance of the printing of the 1925 (5th) Edition of the Ritual, and it was written primarily either by Carl W. Rich (Cincinnati) or Harold E. Martin (Union).

The Ritual for Conducting Business Meetings (i.e., opening/closing ceremony), including the Creed, was considered secret until the 1972 Portland General Assembly. It was in 1972 when pledges became Associate Members and were first routinely admitted to Chapter meetings. While most Chapters admitted AMs to their meetings, virtually all considered the opening/closing ceremony to be too revealing of the Initiation Ritual.

During the early 1980s, The Committee on Emblems and Ritual found that the opening/closing ceremony needed revision to make it acceptable for all Members and guests. The committee removed parts of several lines and added material from the Theta Kappa Nu closing ceremony.

The 1984 New Orleans General Assembly then adopted a Resolution that stated: “Every Member of Lambda Chi Alpha shall memorize the Creed and put its ideals into action, and the Creed shall be recited at each formal gathering of the membership.”

A unique characteristic of the Lambda Chi Alpha Creed is the use of the collective pronoun “We” throughout its entirety. While other fraternities’ creeds reference the singular “I,” the use of “We” reinforces that Lambda Chi Alpha is a cohesive, collaborative brotherhood rather than just a group of individuals.
