Mecosta Chapter's Service to America project on Wednesday was to clean the gravestone of Real Daughter Minerva Bovay at Chippewa Lake Cemetery. As we cleared away the weeds and many tree starts, we realized Minerva Bovay's son was buried a few feet away. We gave his stone a good cleaning, too. Pictured is Minerva Bovay's gravestone, before and after pictures.

On Saturday, May 16, Jean Bessac and Rogue River Chapters, NSDAR hosted a re-marking ceremony of the grave of Revolutionary War Patriot William Pangbourn at Snow Cemetery near Ionia. It was a very memorable event and well attended. Mecosta Chapter members Regent Bev Rothenberger (middle in red), Sallie Wyman (pictured on the right) and Liz LaBatt and Diana Korcal (pictured on the left) joined in a group photo of all DAR members in attendance.

Other pictures include Jean Bessac and Rogue River Chapter Regents Susan Wantland and Laura Druker, and the patriot's descendant Jean Bessac Chapter's Recording Secretary Dr. Patti Peiffer.

Mecosta Chapter members attended the America 250 George Washington Wreath Laying Ceremony on April 30 in Lansing, MI. We were happy to help the SAR pass out Liberty Trees as mementos for the America 250 event. It was quite a celebration with several notable speakers on the program, the Color Guard procession, patriotic music played by the Meridian Community Band, placement of the Wreaths by representatives from DAR, C.A.R. (Children of the American Revolution), SAR (Sons of the American Revolution), and MSR (Michigan Society Sons of the Revolution). A reception at the State Building was held after the event.

Pictured below are: Members Regent Bev Rothenberger, Diana Korcal, and Liz LaBatt posing at the George Washington monument; C.A.R. President Morgan Ryder, Honorary Senior State President Deborah Rakoczy with Bev, Diana, and Liz; and the Wreath Tribute given by Madam State Regent Dawn Brady.
