Everyone is invited!

The South Florida Council, Scouting America, in partnership with the Florida National High Adventure Sea Base in Islamorada, will host a Scouting & Family Fun Event on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This event is FREE for school-aged youth and their families and is open to families throughout Monroe County. Participants will have the opportunity to experience hands-on activities including ocean kayaking, a fishing derby, underwater robotics, BB guns, art projects, ocean conservation activities, and more.

Our goal is simply to provide Monroe County families with an opportunity to experience a unique day of outdoor adventure, learning, and family fun at one of Scouting America’s premier facilities right here in the Florida Keys.

Dates - October 9th, 10th, and 11th,
Haunted House Hours - 8-10 pm (9:30 on Sunday)
Location - The Big Pine Community Park, 31009 Atlantis Dr. Big Pine Key, FL 33043

The setup will start around Sept 30th with framing and plastic and continue with decorations until October 8th.

There will be a fire inspection on Oct 8th so rooms will need to be completely decorated by then.

This Thursday at the Big Pine Park from 6-7:30 we will there ready to help you register to begin your next adventure with our Cub Scout Pack or Boy Scout Troop!!
There will be a Nerf Gun shooting range and other fun games for the kids to have an awesome time while mom and/or dad get all the info they need. Please share !!

Another awesome meeting thanks to the amazing work of detectives from the Sheriff department. The cubs learned all about Forensics, fingerprint collection and processing of evidence and much more.

Scouting America Military Family Fee Waiver

Effective June 1, 2026, Scouting America is expanding access to Scouting for military-connected youth by waiving the $85 national youth registration fee for eligible families. This program applies to youth members only and is available for both new and renewing online registrations. The initiative is funded nationally through philanthropic efforts.

Eligible families include those with current service in the Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard. The waiver covers only the national youth registration fee, reducing the $85 cost to $0 after the required verification and discount code process is completed. Local council fees, unit dues, optional add-ons such as Scout Life magazine, and processing fees may still apply.

To receive the waiver, families should select “Get Military Discount Code” during the online registration process, complete the verification steps, receive the verification code, and enter it at checkout. Once the code is applied, the national registration fee is reduced to $0.

Scouting America notes that the $85 fee may initially appear during checkout but will be removed after the verification code is entered. The waiver is available only for online registrations.

Aquanauts weekend at Sea Base, Islamorada was a total success! We are very thankful to the staff who were awesome making the cubs feel welcomed and cared for. All dens were able to earn the water related elective adventures. Looking forward to working together to bring more events like this in the future!

Buccaneer packs and troop had an awesome weekend full of racing and shooting sports. Pinewood derby, rain gutter regatta and BB gun range were some of the things the scouts participated in during the weekend as well as a Crossover Ceremony during Saturday night campfire.

We are back this week after a very relaxing Spring Break.
We will have our meeting this Thursday, as usual at the Big Pine Park from 6-7pm with the addition of a special guest, Pastor Douglas Lawes from The Vineyard Church.
