“Thank you for all the opportunities you have given us and other kids.”

What a heart this sweet note holds. ❤️ Along with sharing how much the trip meant, this recipient took the time to think about the other children getting to experience it, too.

The beautiful places, the fun activities, and the kindness shown along the way—all of it mattered. These handwritten words remind us that the memories our recipients take home reach far beyond a day of fishing.

Your generosity helps us offer those opportunities to more children and families. Please consider donating through the link below to help us keep making fishing dreams come true.

Two more gems from the Jose Wejebe archives, and that familiar smile in both. ❤️ A little change of scenery from the flats, but still right where we love seeing him—with a fishing rod in hand.

We’ve been hard at work digitizing these old photos, and sharing them has been half the fun. Join us every Thursday as we bring more memories out of the archives. There’s plenty of gold still to come!

Did these bring back a favorite fishing memory or a Spanish Fly episode? We’d love to hear it.

“I really hope we can do this again someday.”

That line from Maddy’s note says so much. ❤️ A day of fishing became something to remember—and something to look forward to doing again. And the sweet little compliment to Krissy? Well, that made us smile, too. 😊

These notes remind us why we do this. Giving someone time to laugh, feel cared for, and simply enjoy being on the water can mean more than we ever know.

Help us give someone else a day they’ll hope to experience again. ❤️ Donate through the link below to help make more fishing dreams come true.

“Thank you for helping me fish and being on my side…”

Sometimes a handwritten thank-you says it better than we ever could. ❤️ This note to Captain JT is a sweet reminder that what stays with someone is more than the fish they caught. It’s having someone beside them, helping them along and sharing in their excitement.

Each week, we’ll be sharing a thank-you note from our Foundation recipients so you can see what your support means in their own words.

Your donations help make these trips possible—the time on the water, the encouragement, and the memories that come home with our recipients. Please consider giving to help make the next fishing dream come true.

We’ve been hard at work digitizing photos from the Jose Wejebe archives, and my goodness… we’ve come across some absolute gold. ❤️

There are too many good ones to keep to ourselves, so we’ll be sharing a little piece of the archives each Throwback Thursday. Some fishing, some familiar faces, and plenty of moments that make us smile.

We’re kicking things off with these three gems—a seriously bent rod and a couple of cast-net throws caught in action. And yes, those are blue jeans on the boat. 😊 We’ve loved revisiting these little details right alongside the fishing memories.

Just a little glimpse of days on the water, saved all these years and ready to be shared again. If you recognize a moment, remember a story, or want to share what Jose meant to you, we’d love to hear it.

Part 3: Worth Celebrating 💙

Since the boys’ first day of fishing was also Tyler’s birthday, we went to dinner at the Square Grouper to celebrate.

When the staff surprised him with a Magical Brownie and sang “Happy Birthday,” he looked around in disbelief and kept asking, “Oh my gosh, is this for me?”

There were nearly tears in his eyes—and in ours.

We also shared a pizza night, generously donated by Driftwood Pizza, where the boys fished, played in the pool, and simply enjoyed being kids.

Sometimes these trips are about catching fish or experiencing something new. Sometimes they are about showing a child that they are worth celebrating, worth loving, and worthy of dreaming about their future. 🎣

Part 2: Making New Friends 🐬

The boys traded fishing rods for flippers during a visit to Dolphin Research Center!

A few were nervous at first—and understandably so. One of the comments we often hear is, “I never understood how big they are.”

Ryder interacted with the dolphins first, and seeing another young kid jump in helped the boys relax and feel more comfortable. Before long, the nerves gave way to smiles, laughter, and an experience they won’t soon forget.

Sometimes all it takes is watching someone else be brave to discover that you can be brave, too. 💙

Part 1 of 3: Meet the Boys 🎣

“Yes ma’am.” “Please and thank you.”

The manners these boys had were something our grandparents and the old-timers would be proud of.

Tyler, Jeremy, Bryce, and Chris were our third group of foster kiddos from the Panhandle area. Their house parents, Shawnesa and Willie, felt called to care for a large group of children—and these boys are now part of that dream.

On Tyler’s birthday, the boys headed out with Captain Mike Macko, sporting brand-new sunglasses from Lower Keys Tackle. They caught mutton snapper, amberjacks, and a few absolute slob blackfin tuna!

When Misty wished Tyler a happy birthday, he laughed and said, “Oh snap! I was so excited to go fishing, I forgot it was my birthday.”

But we certainly hadn’t forgotten. 💙
