Society Of St. Andrew, Florida had the pleasure to join two of our dedicated volunteers in cultivating soil for a community garden at Hamilton Elementary School in Sanford, FL.

We aim for this community garden to spark the next generation’s passion for agriculture, food resiliency, and access to fresh produce.

Upon their return to school in the fall, students will have access to the garden space to grow a variety of fruits and veggies and will have the opportunity to learn how to prepare them once harvested. We are proud to have been apart of this initiative!

Friday we partnered with City of Orlando Division of Sustainability. In partnership with CitySprouts Hydroponics Youth Fellowship Student Interns, we packed up enough lettuce seeds to yield over 16,000 lbs of produce! 🥬🥬🥬

It’s amazing what we can get done in a couple of hours with a little collaboration. These seeds will be available for anyone in the community interested in growing produce to feed hungry neighbors. Email me at [email protected] to set up a seed packing event or to be a recipient of seeds.

SLICE BABY SLICE BABY!

So excited about last week’s glean with UF/IFAS Suwannee location. Farm Share Jacksonville was able to pick up and distribute thousands of pounds of beautiful melons that were ready and ripe for eating!

We’re always thankful for the partners and agencies that come out and make this possible!

• Heavy for its size = juicy
• Dull skin > shiny skin
• Deep hollow sound when tapped
• Brown webbing = often sweeter
• Symmetrical shape = better growth

Skip:
✖️ White field spots
