Twin Tiers Five Rivers Chapter of Fly Fishers International

Twin Tiers Five Rivers Chapter of Fly Fishers International Based in the Corning, NY, area we are the Fly Fishers International chapter for the Twin Tiers of NY and PA. The FFi motto is All Fish -All Waters.

Twin Tiers Five Rivers is a southern tier NY and northern tier PA chapter of the Fly Fishers International. This Page is to inform on chapter events, updates, fundraising for members, friends, and others wishing to participate with our chapter. Note the chapter also hosts a Facebook Group to allow sharing within our community. Our chapter promotes the sport of fly fishing, teaches fly fishing and

tying, fosters catch and release, and supports the conservation of fisheries. We also believe fly fishing is all about having fun! The chapter meets monthly. Programs on a variety of fly fishing topics are occasionally offered on the second Monday of the month. Our program meetings are hybrid, allowing online participation via Zoom. Program meetings are announced as Facebook events on this Page. We also schedule club outings to fly fishing events and to fish local waters. These are announced on our page and are open to club members and soon-to-be club members. We hold an annual fly fishing school in April, hold fly tying and casting educational events and events for women fly fishers. Sign-up to receive email announcements on chapter activities and our newsletter, http://www.twintiersfff.org/FFF_optin.htm

To join our chapter, the only requirement is to become a member of Fly Fishers International at https://flyfishersinternational.org/Sign-Up/JoinRenew/JoinRenewPage1?returnurl=https%3a%2f%2fflyfishersinternational.org%2f

Thought you might appreciate seeing this.

I was blessed to be interviewed on a podcast to share some perspectives on fly fishing from my engineering background and 57 years of fly fishing. Great fun.

We kind of geeked out for a while - so the interview is broken into two parts. Part 1 released today, Part 2 will come soon. TTFR members will hear many connections to the club - including our hosting of Bob Clouser in 2010, some points from our fly fishing academy and presentations, and lessons taught by Joe Cambridge (at very end of Part one). Part two will have connections to several of our youth members.

Many thanks to many of you who have dialogued with me and taught me so much.

We had a great time floating the Chemung River on the club trip yesterday. Kirk Klingensmith, John Shanchuk, Liz McCheyne,
William Bock, & Gordon Mueller joined in the float. Enjoyed a great lunch of grilled burgers on a river island. Fishing was a little slow, but all caught fish, and John and Liz got some solid shots at big carp. Most of us stayed on the river until almost dark, when the popper bite got fun.

We celebrated National Women's Fly Fishing Day with a gathering at Erwin Pond. It was wonderful to see friends old and new from all over the state! Great times, and we persisted through the weeds!

Our 18th Annual Fly Fishing Academy is officially in the books, and what a day! Yes, the weather was rough — steady rain, soggy gear, and a whole lot of mud — but this group showed up ready to learn, have a good time and fish anyway. And that’s exactly what we all did. Again!
Huge thanks to our incredible instructors and volunteers who powered through the conditions and made the day such a success. And to our participants — you earned every bit of that fly fishing experience!

Already looking forward to next year.

Our Fly Fishing Academy has been running for 18 years, with experienced instructors and a format that’s been refined into something that truly works — especially for beginners.

It only happens once a year, and it does fill.

If you’ve been thinking about it, now is the time to sign up!

🎣 Curious about fly fishing but not sure how to get started?

Our one-day Fly Fishing Academy on April 25 at Wirz Pond is perfect for complete beginners. You’ll spend the day learning to cast, getting comfortable on the water, and experiencing what the sport is all about — all in a friendly, supportive setting.

It’s a great way to try something new this spring.
