At The Big Bend Vernon Lions Club meeting on Monday night 1VDGE Sue Jones installed our newest member Harmony. We also had the honor of awarding two $2,000 scholarships to Collin and Ella.

The Big Bend Lions thank Lion Sue for her dedication to our veterans. Great job.

Thank you to Atonement Lutheran Church - Muskego, WI! Last month they held a donation drive to gather essential items for Veterans supported through Milwaukee VA homeless program services. They brought in 35 boxes of items off the wish list along with gift cards. This week they dropped of the donations valued at $1,350. Their generosity is making a positive impact in the lives of our Veterans. Thank you!

Last school vision screening for the year.
What a great team, serving together.
Lions clubs from West Allis, Prospect, New Berlin, Big Bend Vernon, Muskego, Hales Corners, Genoa City, Greenfield and Wind Lake. The team screened 315 children with 104 being referred for additional care at Milwaukee Parkside.

The Big Bend Vernon Lions held their Installation Banquet last night. Along with 63 Lion members and guests, DG Patt, DGE Patti and PDG Larry enjoyed a fabulous dinner at the Blue Heron Supper Club.
DGE Patti presented 9 deserving members with recognition awards. And DG Patt installed the 2026-2027 Big Bend Vernon Board Members.

🛟 Village Park Safety Enhancements 🛟

Your safety is our top priority. After the severe flooding and several swift-water rescues our county faced last year, we knew we needed to take proactive steps to increase safety measures right here in our own community.

We are proud to share that the Village of Big Bend Department of Public Works recently installed three emergency life rings in our Village Park.

This addition was a true community effort. We want to extend a massive thank you to the local organizations that stepped up to make this happen:

The cost of these lifesaving tools was generously split between Rumble By The River Village of Big Bend and the Lions Club of Big Bend - Vernon. Graphics were donated and created by Hoopsters Graphics.

Please Note: These emergency tools are equipped with security devices to prevent tampering and ensure they are ready to go if an emergency ever arises.

While we hope we never have to use them, we can all rest a little easier knowing our residents and visitors are safer with these critical devices nearby. Thank you to everyone involved in keeping Big Bend safe!

In 2025, there were 203 MD27 Lions of Wisconsin Clubs who reported data for Vision Screening. This resulted in 122,470 children having their vision screened throughout Wisconsin, with 15,259 children being referred for additional follow-up with an eye health professional. In partnership with Shopko Optical's Kids in Focus program, 457 vouchers were distributed to help children in need obtain an eye exam and a pair of eyeglasses, if needed.

Here are the results of the 2025-26 Deer Hides for WI Lions Camp Collection. In total, $122,176 was raised through the collection of deer hides, tails, and the sale of deer hide gloves.

We cannot say thank you enough to all the hunters for being generous with your donations. Stay tuned for the opening of the 2026-27 collection in September.
