I am saddened to say our club member Bill LoPresti's (KD6LAN) wife Karen passed away yesterday. She was a wonderful woman and friend. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Bill and all the family. RIP Karen.

Our club member Lola Monroe (KB6UTT) has been very ill. She was admitted to Loma Linda Hospital on August 10th and came home August 25 and they still haven't found out what is wrong with her. She was re-admitted to Loma Linda Hospital on September 6th. She has developed pneumonia and is in ICU with no visitors allowed. Keep Lola in your prayers. Her daughter in law Lisette has a blog set up where you can get updated info on Lola's condition and leave comments. The link is: caringbridge.org/visit/lolaheathmonroe
We pray God will heal her and she will be back home soon.

Went up to Monache Meadows in Inyo National Forest this weekend (go to Pearsonville on the 395 and turn left into the Sierra Nevada). In the picture, the tallest peak is Olancha Peak. I set up only the home made 40 meter dipole in camp, hanging it in the trees, not nearly high enough. It was not the best location as there was a hill very near to the east. Daytime, made contacts in San Diego and up to Alameda (USS Hornet Museum) as well as Sacramento, Los Angeles and other locations up and down the coast. At night the hill and weather system moving through the country made it hard on 100 watts, I heard mostly noise, but I got as far as Alabama before settling in by the fire. Good weekend!!!
