**June Registration DEADLINE is Sunday, June 14**

The Mountain Rim Fire Safe Council is able to offer this ✨free service✨ thanks to grant funding from CAL FIRE's California Climate Investment Fire Prevention grant program. 🌲🌲🌲

The process for curbside chipping:
1. Property owner places slash (branches, small trees, etc) at their curb or roadside.
2. Property owner registers by the deadline for that month's cycle at www.freechipping.org
3. The day after the deadline, the MRFSC provides a list of properties to the various contractors and fire departments and code enforcement.
4. The contractors then create the most efficient "route" for their equipment and crews. We never know where they will start or how long a cycle will take. Some people have a few branches, others have 50 ft long piles that are 3 feet high. Our contractors commit to complete their lists within three weeks. (This isn't always possible depending on weather, the volume of properties and material and backlogs in abatement projects.)

Help us demonstrate the value of this free chipping service by completing the required chipping request form which provides us with documentation of community support creating defensible space. The outcomes and success of this grant will be important considerations in our applications for future grants.

Thank you for doing your part in making our communities more FIRE SAFE! 🔥🔥🔥

In case you didn't get this information from your insurance company. The California FAIR Plan has new discounts available for insurance.

CFP is now breaking up the qualification criteria so that each individual item may qualify for an incremental discount applied to the risk-reduction portion of the premium.
Previously, if a property owner did not qualify for all five items listed in the bundle, they would not receive any discount at all.
Under the new approach, qualifying for individual items may allow partial discounts to be applied.

The requirement has also shifted to a self-declaration process.

Our insurance expert's recommendation is for the property owner to write/type-up a self-declaration letter, sign and date it at the bottom, and forward a copy to their insurance broker along with any supporting documentation or photos (for example: Firewise certification, Fire Risk Reduction Community List, defensible space/fire fuel reduction documentation, photos of enclosed eaves, etc.).

Please contact MRFSC at FireSafeNow.org for assistance with Firewise and Fire Risk Reduction Community details.

Nothing like a forest view like this. If camping's on the agenda, wildfire safety should be too.

Before you build your campfire, remember:
✔ Pick a campfire spot safely
✔ Use a fire ring or give your fire some space
✔ Drown, stir, drown again, and feel before you go

Only you can prevent unwanted wildfires.
