That’s a wrap on our 2026 Youth Conservation Corps!
This 8 week program offers high school aged youth paid, hands-on experience in conservation- teaching hard work and a love for the outdoors. Last month including projects such as building trellises, a new walking and biking trail at Apex, a firewood holder, a compost bin, invasive species removal, and even a bench crafted from a downed Poplar tree.
We wrapped up our last week of the season with three incredible partner adventures:
-Trail work with Maine Coast Heritage Trust at the new Biddeford Forest
-Invasive species removal and island beautification with Maine Island Trail Association on Little Chebeague Island
-A visit to Goat Island in Cape Porpoise thanks to Kennebunkport Conservation Trust including a tour of the lighthouse, tidepool exploration, and swimming to celebrate a season of fun!
Thank you to all of our incredible partners and volunteers for making this summer so successful and full of hard work, positive connections, and experiential learning. We’re so grateful to our partner Ranger Tom at Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge, we couldn’t do this without you! And thank you to our incredible crew of 5 for a job well done!
