Congratulations to our volunteer, Lilah Hall! In addition to volunteering with A Running Passion, as part of her senior volunteer project, Lilah has been working to educate her community about the negative impacts of sneakers hitting the landfill. She organized a sneaker recycling project with and had several donation boxes around Freeport. Her efforts were capped off by a series of 1-mile races at Freeport high school which included a community mile, a costume mile, and an elite mile. Each participant brought an entry-fee of a used pair of sneakers to be recycled. On the day, Lilah helped recycle 50 pairs of sneakers and throughout her project, collected 125 pairs that will be saved from the landfill. Chris and Ashley supported her effort by running in the community mile yesterday morning. Well done, Lilah!

We love seeing some event-specific shoes out there! Best wishes to some of our friends from Lewiston High School who always have a coach looking to help them reach their fullest potential! One of the items that we have to regularly order if they are requested for athletes are horizontal and high jump specific shoes. They are so uncommon that we have actually yet to find them in a physical store location in Maine. Event-specific shoes optimize energy transfer, reduce muscle fatigue, and improve traction, providing a crucial edge for performance and injury prevention. Good luck Blue Devils! 💙🤍

Volunteers make the world go round! As part her senior volunteer project at Freeport High School, Lilah Hall has been volunteering for the past few weeks for us! She has done some shoe deliveries and has taken on the project of organizing and tracking our current inventory of shoes, sports bras, socks, and t-shirts! This has been incredibly helpful to help us get our space organized and get us ready for the next school year. In addition to the work with us, Lilah is also hosting a set of races this weekend. Cost of entry? An old pair of shoes to recycle! Checkout her project Instagram page .it.forward and consider joining us this weekend!
