There's always a special energy on campus when our six Houses come together! Cove, Dune, Harbor, Jetty, Marsh, and Shoal gathered once again but this time for a little friendly competition. Students raced through the scarecrow costume relay, guided each other as the wandering witch, and sprinted to the finish with the apple relay! It was so great to see our community connecting, laughing, and cheering with plenty of House spirit today. 🌈 🏠 🦫

The Upper School Creative Arts Block gives students the freedom to follow their own creative interests and turn their ideas into something uniquely their own.

Throughout the trimester, students choose a creative passion they want to explore, develop an independent project, and see it through from inspiration to completion. The process gives them space to experiment, take creative risks, and discover new ways to express themselves.

It’s amazing to see just how many directions creativity can take when students are given the opportunity to lead the way!

Caring for the Learning Garden 🌱🍂

Grade 3 headed outside with Ms. Holland today to give the Learning Garden a little seasonal care! Students discovered that while plants may seem still and quiet, they are very much alive — and thoughtful pruning helps keep a garden healthy and ready for the seasons ahead.

With careful observation, students learned how to distinguish living growth from dead plant material before getting hands-on and helping prepare the garden beds for winter.

It was a beautiful fall lesson in science, stewardship, and caring for the living world right here on Shore’s campus!

From Pre-K through Grade 5, each morning begins with a chance to come together. Morning Meeting gives students time to check in with one another, reflect on thoughtful questions, and start the day feeling connected to their classroom community.

One morning might bring a new way to greet each other in another language, while another sparks a conversation about what it means to be a good friend, classmate, or community member. These small moments encourage students to listen, share, and learn more about one another.

It’s a simple, meaningful way to begin each day, together.

It was a great afternoon for soccer yesterday ⚽

Our home fields were buzzing as Girls Varsity Soccer welcomed Rockport Middle School and Boys JV Soccer faced Tower School.

From the opening whistle to the final moments, both Shore teams brought energy, determination, teamwork, and plenty of school spirit to the field. It was a fun fall afternoon cheering on our student-athletes. Go Shore!

Grade 5 is a special year at Shore, as students begin stepping into new leadership roles and looking out for our younger learners. One of the sweetest parts of that responsibility is our Grade 5 and Kindergarten Buddy program, where each student is paired with a buddy to learn, play, and explore throughout the year.

This time, buddies headed off campus together for a favorite fall tradition, our annual trip to Russell Orchards. With Grade 5 students helping their Kindergarten buddies along the way, the day was filled with apple picking, fall fun, and plenty of opportunities to get to know one another.

These shared experiences are about much more than apples. They’re a chance for our older students to grow as leaders while building meaningful connections with younger members of the Shore community. We can’t wait to watch these friendships continue to grow throughout the year! 🍎

From Ground to Table! 🍞

Grade 3 continued a favorite tradition — making bread the ancient way! As students begin their exploration of ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome, they are learning how historical artifacts can help piece together the past and deepen their understanding of the world today.

Students took turns mixing and kneading their dough before shaping it into small balls, placing them in clay pots, and carefully setting them over a small coal fire. After about 40 minutes of patient waiting, it was finally time for the best part: tasting their freshly baked, crispy bread!

A little butter and honey from Ms. Babcock’s own honey bees made the experience even sweeter. Hands-on, delicious, and rooted in history, there’s a reason this Grade 3 tradition remains a student favorite!
