Congratulations to Love Your Magic, a 2026 Women’s Fund of Ess*x County grantee!

Girls deserve spaces where they can care for their well-being, build confidence, and learn to advocate for themselves.

With support from The Women’s Fund, Love Your Magic will bring its "Be Well Retreats" to girls in Lynn and Lawrence. These eight-week experiences are designed to nurture mental health and wellness through yoga, meditation, healing circles, dance, and community connection. Created especially to support Black and Brown girls as they navigate adolescence, the retreats offer a welcoming environment where participants can explore self-love, self-care and the tools that help them feel grounded and empowered.

We are honored to invest in programs that affirm girls’ voices and help them recognize their own strength.

Congratulations to Youth Development Organization (YDO) , a 2026 Women’s Fund of Ess*x County grantee!

What happens when girls are given tools, mentorship and room to create? They build confidence, develop new skills and begin to see themselves as makers, leaders and innovators!

Our grant will support YDO’s MakeHERS Programming, a girls-centered maker space for students in grades 4–8 in Lawrence. Through hands-on projects, participants explore creativity, apply math and engineering concepts, and develop entrepreneurial skills.

Girls have opportunities to:
✨ Design and build their own creations
✨ Learn hands-on skills in a maker and machine-shop environment
✨ Explore math, engineering and problem-solving through real projects
✨ Develop leadership skills by mentoring younger participants
✨ Sell their creations and learn about entrepreneurship

MakeHERS serves approximately 100 girls each year and helps challenge the gender stereotypes that can limit how girls see their own potential.

Congratulations to North Shore Community Development Coalition, a 2026 Women’s Fund of Ess*x County grantee!

Young women benefit from having a space designed specifically for their goals, questions, challenges, and aspirations.

Our grant will support NSCDC’s Young Women’s Empowerment Group, a weekly mentorship program for young women ages 16–24 participating in YouthBuild. Through conversations, workshops and field trips, participants build practical skills, confidence and supportive relationships as they plan for their futures.

Participants will have opportunities to:
✨ Build financial literacy and other life skills
✨ Explore personal and professional development goals
✨ Learn about healthy eating and access to community resources
✨ Strengthen social-emotional well-being in a supportive peer community
✨ Take part in workshops and field trips that expand their horizons

Funding will help strengthen the program by supporting an additional facilitator and covering the program expenses that make these experiences possible.

Congratulations to Notre Dame Education Center-Lawrence, MA, a 2026 Women’s Fund of Ess*x County grantee!

Career training can be transformative when it opens the door to stable employment, family-sustaining wages and long-term opportunity.

The Women’s Fund grant will support Notre Dame Education Center’s Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide Training Programs, which serve 45–60 primarily female adult learners each year, many of whom are immigrant women preparing for careers in healthcare. Funding will also support an Alumni Success Advisor, helping recent graduates navigate their job search, stay connected to career resources, and build momentum after completing the program.

By pairing high-quality training with ongoing career support, Notre Dame Education Center is helping women move toward economic independence while strengthening the local healthcare workforce.

Congratulations to Gloucester Education Foundation, a 2026 Women’s Fund of Ess*x County grantee!

When girls see themselves as scientists, engineers, innovators, and leaders, new possibilities open up.

The Women’s Fund grant will support the Gender Equity in STEM Club at Gloucester High School, a student-centered program that helps girls build confidence, leadership and a sense of belonging in STEM fields. Through monthly site visits, conversations with professionals in STEM, mentorship, and facilitated discussions about gender-based barriers, students gain meaningful exposure to careers they may not have otherwise imagined.

Serving approximately 150–250 students each year, the club creates opportunities for young people to explore science, technology, engineering, and math in ways that are engaging, relevant, and empowering.

Congratulations to Catie's Closet, a 2026 Women’s Fund of Ess*x County grantee!

Every student deserves to arrive at school feeling prepared, comfortable and confident. Yet for many girls and young women, a lack of clothing, toiletries and other basic necessities can create barriers to attendance, participation and learning.

Our grant will support "Gateway to Confidence Lawrence", helping provide girls and young women in grades PreK–12 with equitable access to clothing, personal care items and other essentials. The need is both clear and growing. In Lawrence, 70% of students using the closets visit at least once a week, and 65% of those students are girls.

Access to these basic necessities can make a meaningful difference by helping students:
✨ Reduce chronic absenteeism
✨ Stay engaged and succeed academically
✨ Build long-term confidence and self-esteem
✨ Participate more fully in school and community life

Catie’s Closet is helping ensure that girls have what they need not only to attend school, but to feel ready to learn, participate, and thrive.

Congratulations to Bellesini Academy, a 2026 Women’s Fund of Ess*x County grantee!

Summer can be a powerful time for students to keep learning, explore new interests, and build confidence outside the regular school year.

The Women’s Fund grant will support Bellesini Academy’s 11th Month Summer Program, a required month of academic and enrichment programming for middle school students from the greater Lawrence area. Approximately 40 girls participate each July in a full-day program that combines academic instruction, field trips, meals, and hands-on enrichment opportunities.

By helping girls maintain academic progress while discovering new strengths and interests, Bellesini’s summer program creates a safe, nurturing environment for personal growth and continued success.

Our grant will help expand Amirah’s Client Services Program for women who have experienced s*x trafficking and commercial s*xual exploitation. Funding will help provide trauma-informed, individualized support including:

😍 Congratulations to HAWC Healing Abuse Working for Change, a 2026 Women's Fund of Ess*x County grantee!

For many survivors of domestic violence, financial abuse is part of the cycle of control which makes it even harder to achieve lasting independence. Rebuilding a life after abuse means having the knowledge, confidence, and support to make informed

Our grant will help launch a pilot program providing individualized financial coaching to 25 women each year. Through one-on-one support from specially trained volunteer coaches, participants will gain practical guidance as they navigate the financial decisions that are often critical to long-term safety, stability, and independence.

Participants will benefit from:
💲 Personalized financial coaching tailored to individual needs
💲 Support navigating important financial decisions during recovery
💲 Practical tools to build financial confidence and resilience
💲 Resources that strengthen long-term financial independence

🍅 Congratulations to Backyard Growers Program, a 2026 Women's Fund of Ess*x County grantee! 🥕

With our grant, Backyard Growers will expand their "Women Rooted in Community" programming, outreach, and hands-on learning opportunities while supporting the staff, artists, and community partners who make these vibrant spaces possible.

Impact by the Numbers:
🌱 250+ gardeners served every single year
👩‍🌾 86% of those participants are women
🥕 Countless community, school and residential gardens managed across Gloucester

Community gardens nourish so much more than fresh produce. They strengthen neighborhoods, improve food access, build confidence and leadership, and create lasting connections among women of all ages and backgrounds.
