Yesterday was the first day of our summer family gardening program! Parents and kids, alongside each other in the garden, learning about growing food. Pretty amazing, right?!

Participants will join us for the next 7 weeks as we move through the gardening cycle (planting, cultivating, harvesting). Yesterday was a scorcher, but these families showed up 🙌🏻, and were able to plant zinnias and harvest garlic scapes! We then made our way into the manor and decorated journals that will be used for garden observations over the next several weeks.

At the Garden School, we LEARN BY DOING. It’s a beautiful thing.

“I liked harvesting the kale and eggplants and washing, drying and preparing the kale and chard for the farm stand. I learned that kale is the last thing to harvest before the winter. I also liked playing on the play structure, and throwing the hay on garlic at the end of the season.”
