We wanted to take a minute and give a tremendous thanks to our friends over at Parkersburg Pride for allowing us the space we needed to setup our booth last weekend - and, even moreso, we want to give a tremendous thanks to everyone that stopped by our booth!

Thanks to your efforts, we raised over $500 for our summer food drive, which puts us at a great spot to lead into our summer season.

But we're not done this month - not yet!
This weekend, you can find us at the MOV Multi-Cultural Festival at the Belpre Civitan Park on Saturday, June 20th!

(Disclosure: we only have a couple of volunteers able to work that day, so our footprint will be a bit smaller than usual. Still, we'll have all the goodies you expect to see from us!)

That said, you can also find some of our goodies at the Joshua E. B. Smith, Author booth all weekend long as he donates some of his booth space to our summer fundraising period!

Hey out there Mid Ohio Valley!
We had a really busy weekend this week, and I think we did a little bit of good. One thing's for certain though:

We spoke to several people who wanted to help us do what we do.

First, for that, we're thankful.

Second, we really are looking for new volunteers. The more people we have, the more things we can do. Yes, a lot of what we do is really fun, but some of the stuff that we have to do does take a lot of work.

When you see us set up at events, there's a significant amount of prep time and we need people to man various stations.

We're also always looking for people who can help us raise funds and alternative ways, such as online streaming or reaching out or using community connections to help funnel funds our way to supply our food drives and then directly help out our partner food pantries.

We're all setup at Parkersburg Pride 's 2026 Pridefest!

Come on down, hang out, grab some photos, and help us raise money for food pantries in and around Wood County West Virginia!

As always, we believe that everyone deserves to eat, and that everyone needs everyone.

Our team is incredibly grateful for the work that the City of Vienna WV 's Vienna Volunteer Fire Department, Vienna, WV does to protect our local community.

Tonight is their annual Ice Cream Social, and as a sincere thanks from us to them, we wanted to help out a bit.

We love our local community and the place where our boss calls home, so any chance we get to be of service, we try to be.

A few of us will be going tonight just to enjoy the festivities, so we hope to see you there!

We rarely donate cash straight to our partners, but we were able to take advantage of the Give Local MOV event to have our $750 donation doubled.

As a result, the The Cardinal Family Support Center of Wood County was able to heavily stock their pantries.

The thing is:
The money we donated to them didn't come from one specific event. It came from one of the nearly dozen different fundraising activities we did over the spring, so if you saw us at Classic Plastics Toy Expo or Final Boss Con or the Parkersburg Easter Parade, or participated in our online fundraisers...
..this is how you helped us help them!

And for that, we're thankful.

Our first donor during Give Local MOV 2026 was Cre8tive Cosplay of the Mid-Ohio Valley, who donated $750 to our pantry. As you can see, thanks to those funds, we were able to place a large grocery order to restock our shelves and support our families.

Much of the work we do is possible thanks to the generosity of this community and organizations like Cre8tive Cosplay. Thank you to Josh and team for all the ways you support Children's Home Society and the MOV. Your hard work is appreciated and does not go unnoticed! The MOV is a brighter place with community members like you!

What did we do this weekend?

Oh, you know. Just went to the 10th Annual Fairytale Ball at the Parkersburg Art Center hosted by the Children's Home Society of WV - Parkersburg Site. 🤷🏻‍♀️ We'll have fundraising totals later due to the boss man being a bit laid up currently and the ACTUAL boss telling him to take some time off. 😜

TONIGHT!
We'll be at the 10th Annual Fairytale Ball at the Parkersburg Art Center, hosted by the Children's Home Society of WV - Parkersburg Site.

Come see some of the lovely ladies of C8C, and help us raise funds to help WV"s foster youth.

Together, we're bringing magic - and helping the community - like a bunch of nerds.

It's a FAIRY TALE BALL!

Tomorrow night, we're doing something a little different, but incredibly special. Thanks to our friends at the Children's Home Society of WV - Parkersburg Site, four of C8C's ladies will be present at the 10th Annual Fairytale Ball!

We'll be helping out the incredible staff at the CHS and the Parkersburg Art Center while both raising funds for our summer food drive and the CHS both!

So if you happen to see a few princesses along Market Street tomorrow night... it's most likely us!

SPRING WRAP-UP POST!
Okay everybody! I wanted to make this post to talk about what we did, where we did it at, and how much your help... HELPED!

IF YOU DONATED TO US, here's your money went:
In January, we donated $107 worth of bottled water to the Jon Six Food Ministry and the Latrobe Mission in Parkersburg.

Then in May, we donated the proceeds of our spring fundraising events to the following pantries and providers:

1. The Cardinal Family Support Center of Wood County, in conjunction with the Children's Home Society of WV - Parkersburg Site received $750 from us in cash via the Give Local MOV event.

- As a result of our timing, this donation was doubled(!) and the CFSC/CHS received $1500(!) in assistance from this donation alone.

- We are also donating approximately ~$30 in non-perishable food items on 5/19 to them. (I missed a tote we'd collected... my bad.)

2. We purchased and delivered $175.80 in plates and forks to the Latrobe Mission for their soup kitchen. After speaking to Mr. Six, we believe we provided enough cutlery for ~2 months worth of meals.

3. We purchased and delivered $300.76 worth of water and food to The Gathering- Parkersburg's food pantry in Parkersburg.

4. Finally, we purchased and delivered $751.29 worth of water, food, meal supplies, and hygiene material (including women's sanitary supplies, sanitizer, deodorant, and sunblock) to the Old Man Rivers food pantry / food bank in Parkersburg.

All told, for this season, we have raised and donated over $2,084.85 to the agencies that directly supply some of our most needful neighbors, friends, and members of our community here in Wood County.

In addition, we also reached out to three more pantries in Vienna and Parkersburg both to see if there was anything else they needed, and they were in good shape at that specific moment.

I'm incredibly proud of my team, but I'm equally proud of our supporters. Without the donations we receive when we're at conventions, fairs, festivals, and parades, we can't do what we do.

But your help to us allows us to consolidate those funds and make a difference in the valley.

We'll have a few more posts like this coming up this week, but that's enough typing for tonight. Thank you for making all of this possible!

And our final donation day for Spring 2026!
Today marked the first time we've directly assisted the Old Man Rivers food pantry/soup kitchen/food bank in Parkersburg. Today's donation was $751.29 worth of breakfast supplies, water, hygiene items (soap, deodorant, sanitary items, and more), canned veggies and fruits, applesauce, canned meats, and so much more.

This marks the end of our Spring period and starts our Summer fundraising - which will run from now until the day of the Parkersburg Homecoming Festival on August 14th!

We have more things planned for the summer, and we'll cover those in another post. We'll also do a donation breakdown this weekend, too, so you can see exactly where your money went.

But above all, thank you - all of you - for trusting us with your donations, offering your time and assistance, and helping us make this our best spring period yet by far.
