Walking with those in need and extending grace. Anna was born on January 19, 2016.

Anna's Foundation was started by Dr. Mary-Margaret Allen and Shawn Allen following the stillbirth of their daughter Anna Ruth Allen. In the immediate aftermath, their family and friends provided support and guidance as they navigated their tragedy. To remember their daughter, the Allens started a scholarship at Shawn's alma mater - Seven Rivers Christian School. He had experienced financial help w

hen he was a student and wanted to extend that to others as well. However, the Allens desired to help in the same way they had been helped following their tragedy. Out of gratitude and the continuing memory of their daughter, they created Anna's Foundation. The Foundation will support parents who have stillbirth by providing financial help for services like coordinating burial or cremation, incidental costs like travel and food, and counseling services. Combining both the scholarship and immediate services into one, Anna's Foundation was born.

Halloween, or All Hallows’ Eve, is more than just a holiday to dress up in costume and trick-or-treat. It started as a day of remembrance, where people all over the world lit a candle on the night before All Saints Day to honor the memory of those who have passed. The candle signifies our loved ones memories illuminating our lives even in dark times. On this last day of month, we light a candle in the memory of all of our little saints who have gone on before us.

BIG NEWS: We started a podcast! The Anna’s Foundation Say Their Names podcast will consist of conversations with parents regarding their experience with stillbirth. We will discuss grief, healing, and the process of having more children. Through dialogue, we hope that this podcast will honor our children, promote healing, and help others to understand how to talk with us about our children. Subscribe via Apple Podcasts.

Along with most organizations nationwide, we have experienced a slower period of donations as a result of COVID-19. Unfortunately, stillbirth doesn’t stop for a pandemic, and in some cases, parents have had to give birth alone. So in response, we are launching our fundraising campaign two months early.

The one guideline is this - if you can, please give. If you cannot, then please don’t.

Over the next month, we will share stories from parents and healthcare providers as to why Anna’s Foundation is important, and how we have impacted lives. We look forward to sharing with you the fruition of your gifts.
