On Sunday, nearly 50 Wolverines came together for our Annual Planning Meeting to help shape the future of the U-M Club of Los Angeles—and the energy in the room was incredible!

Members heard about the Club’s goals and plans for the year ahead, then rolled up their sleeves to brainstorm new events, experiences, activities, and ways to bring Wolverines together across Los Angeles. From networking and game watches to community service, arts and culture, fitness, and beyond, there was no shortage of ideas and enthusiasm.

Attendees enjoyed fresh bagel's from Pop's Bagels (an alumni owned business) and a surprise raffle for two signed copies of John U. Bacon’s The Gales of November: The Untold Story of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and shared your time, ideas, and Wolverine spirit. With so many passionate alumni helping shape what’s next, it’s clear that the year ahead is going to be a-maize-ing!

If you couldn't make the Annual Planning Meeting but want to get involved, shoot us a message! We'd love to hear from you!

Michigan Alumni from Burbank to Long Beach recently came together downtown for an unforgettable evening of music, community, and culture at Grand Performances' symphonic tribute to jazz-funk legend Roy Ayers.

The evening began with a pre-show reception overlooking California Plaza, Angels Flight, and Grand Central Market, where Wolverines connected over light bites from Pez Cantina before heading to reserved VIP seating for the concert.

As the summer sun set, producer and arranger Sly5thAve led a dynamic 12-piece ensemble, joined by the incredible vocals of Jimetta Rose, in a powerful orchestral celebration of Roy Ayers' timeless musical legacy.

The true highlight of the evening, however, was the U-M community. It was wonderful to see Wolverines from across Southern California reconnect, make new connections, and celebrate together—from members of the Class of 1975 to the Class of 2025. The event was a perfect reminder that no matter when you graduated, the Michigan family always brings us together.

U of M Law Professor, alumna, and author Barbara McQuade recently visited Chevalier's Books for a discussion and Q&A of her latest book, The Fix: Saving America from the Corruption of a Mob-Style Government. While not a UMLA sponsored event, UMLA supported U of M’s commitment to lifelong learning.

Michigan alumni joined fellow community members for an engaging evening of conversation and insight.

Drawing from her experience as the former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, McQuade explored real-world examples of ethics and accountability in public service. She closed the evening by highlighting the value of civic participation and informed engagement.

Our alumni group recently showed up and showed out at the LA Food Bank, helping sort produce for neighbors in need. Together, we moved more than 60,000 pounds of produce—and yes, we counted every potato.

It was a genuinely special morning of networking, sharing Ann Arbor memories, and connecting over life in LA. Thank you to everyone who came out and gave their time. We can't wait to do it again!
