In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re excited to launch the first Mahjong Program at Magnolia House!

Beginning October 28, join us in person on Wednesdays from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. for a six-session program featuring 3 weeks of teaching followed by 3 weeks of guided play.

Whether you’re completely new to Mahjong or already have some experience, we’d love to have you join us!

What can one genetic test reveal about an entire family’s future?

BRCA1 and BRCA2 are genes that normally help repair damaged DNA, but certain inherited mutations can significantly increase the risk of breast, ovarian, pancreatic, prostate, and other cancers. Knowing about an inherited BRCA mutation can save lives.

This year’s Spirit of Hope Luncheon honorees know the impact of that knowledge firsthand. After one sister learned she carried a BRCA mutation, her sisters pursued testing and discovered they carried it as well. Stories like theirs demonstrate why cancer research, education, and access to reliable information matter.

As the conversation around cancer survivorship continues to evolve, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: supportive care doesn't end when treatment does. At Magnolia House, we've long embraced a holistic approach to survivorship by providing free programs that promote physical activity, emotional well-being, community connection, nutrition, mindfulness, and other accessible wellness services that help individuals thrive beyond a diagnosis.

We're especially encouraged to see growing recognition of exercise oncology as an essential component of comprehensive cancer care. As this field continues to expand, we look forward to building new collaborations with healthcare providers, researchers, fitness professionals, and organizations that share our commitment to improving quality of life for cancer survivors through movement and evidence-based supportive care.
