Tower Cancer Research Foundation

Tower Cancer Research Foundation Advancing groundbreaking research and profoundly supporting people affected by cancer.

TCRF was established in 1996 by a driven group of physicians, patients, and volunteers with a personal stake in cancer to fund high-impact research and survivorship support programs. Today, we continue to advance groundbreaking science and fund essential support for people affected by cancer through local community partnerships and Magnolia House, our survivorship support program.

Actor Rob Lowe is helping shine a national spotlight on an important issue in cancer care: not enough patients are enrolling in clinical trials, putting the future of treatment advancements at risk. At Tower Cancer Research Foundation, we share this commitment to increasing awareness, accessibility, and participation in clinical research so more patients can explore potential treatment options and help drive lifesaving discoveries forward.

We’re inspired by Rob Lowe and cancer survivor Serene Hesri for using their voices to encourage meaningful conversations around clinical trials and the critical role they play in shaping the future of cancer care. Watch the full video from NBC News at the link below.

Surviving cancer is one chapter. Living life after is another. Life after treatment deserves just as much support as life during treatment.

This , we're celebrating every patient who has navigated a cancer journey.

At Tower Cancer Research Foundation, survivorship is our north star. Survivorship looks different for everyone. It's a scan that comes back clear, or a first yoga class after treatment, or achieving another personal milestone.

From funding breakthrough science to organizing impactful Magnolia House programming, every day we work to further our mission to give every patient the chance to become a survivor. 🔬💙

Welcome back to another edition of !

Today, we’re highlighting Jonathan Weitz, MD, and his work studying a new therapeutic approach for pancreatic tumors with GNAS mutations.

Pancreatic cancer has a 5-year survival rate of just 13%. Dr. Weitz’s research explores how the genetics of certain pancreatic tumors may make them sensitive to palbociclib, a drug currently FDA-approved for breast cancer. Because this drug is already approved, these findings could have rapid clinical relevance and help identify which patients may benefit.

“The truth is, each one of us is making an impact by showing up every day and giving it our all. Just one person can create change.”

In a recent interview with Chad Silverstein for Authority Magazine, Tower Cancer Research Foundation’s Executive Director & Chief Philanthropy Officer, Matt Zarcufsky, shared his path into nonprofit leadership, the relationships that help move TCRF’s mission forward, and the Foundation’s commitment to funding early-stage cancer research while supporting patients and families through Magnolia House.

For Matt, the work is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: when people show up with purpose, they can help create meaningful change for all affected by cancer.

It's , and we'd like to feature our amazing work with Dr. Lili Yang, whose laboratory at UCLA studies tumor immunology and cancer immunotherapy, with a special focus on stem cell-based and gene-engineered immunotherapy for cancer.

Her research explores how the enzyme MAO-A, traditionally associated with brain function and the treatment of depression, may regulate antitumor immunity. Her study has the potential to identify MAO-A as a new immune checkpoint and support repurposing existing MAOI antidepressants as a potential form of cancer immunotherapy.
