So…I got 9 years on the 11th! As addicts, our suffering seems unbearable. Honestly, drinking probably saved my life. When it stopped soothing my pain, and began contributing to it, I didn’t want to live anymore. That first year was just about survival. One day some friends asked me if I’d go rock climbing with them. I was terrified of embarrassing myself, but I couldn’t spend one more night alone in my room. They showed me the easiest climb in the gym and I felt a spark that I hadn’t felt since I was a child. I found joy in sobriety through the outdoors and God pushed me to bring that joy to my brothers and sisters who are still struggling. It has been an honor and a privilege to share my spark with you all. Love you from the bottom of my heart.
