We had a crazy change of weather from 90's to rain and in the thirties. So glad we have a 26 stall matted barn so all horses are in tonight. They love the orchard grass hay from our hay dealer!

We are a rescue and help all types of animals in need

I read a comment today, one very similar to many we see. It wasn’t directed to us, but I would like to address it nonetheless…

“WHY would you rescue a horse you can’t afford the vet bills? Rescues need to be self-sufficient—rescue, rehab, sell, and buy another. I never understood the need to beg for money. I’ve raised horses for 52 years and only bought what I could afford.”

Let me explain…

A 501(c)3 rescue is not a private horse operation.

It is a public charity, built on community support.

We don’t rescue horses to “flip” them.

For us, most of the animals who come through our gates are elderly, injured, permanently disabled, or medically fragile. They will NEVER be profitable, and that’s the point.

They are the often the ones no one else will take.

Asking for donations is not “begging.”

It’s how nonprofits function…just like hospitals, food banks, disaster relief organizations, and humane societies.

If rescues only helped animals they could cover 100% on their own, countless horses would be euthanized or shipped to slaughter.

If rescues only took “easy” cases, the broken and forgotten would be left behind.

Private ownership and rescue are two different callings.

Both can be responsible.

Both can be ethical.

They just serve very different purposes.

Rescues exist because people choose to care…together.

Every life saved is proof that community compassion works. 🤍

Just wanted to make a short post about all the horrible people threatening myself and our horses.

1. I have been sick with cancer and double pneumonia. Thankfully I have amazing volunteers that have been helping.

2. I do this to help abused animals as we live in a low income area and there are many in need. We foster horses, mini pigs and last year i fostered 46 dogs. It's alot of work and im not making a dime!

We work very closely to our Veterinarian, NC State Vet Scool and our farrier.

We do this to help animals. Some live here forever due to trauma.

For everyone commenting of Wee Biscuits feet. He suffered horrible and required a major surgery at NC State. He has no tendons or ligaments in his back right foot. He is very special.

Here is a list of the services we do for free:

Homeschooling groups
Wounded Warrior events
Course assisted therapy for child
Visits to hospitals.

ALL FOR FREE. Because it helps people so much!

The people attacking me and my farm live in Massachusetts and have never been to my farm. So sad to attack someone who does nice things.

I hope this can clear up these attacks. Notice that I will not respond to a bunch of kids looking to attack me.

We do this this help any animal in need. We appreciate your support.

I'm still struggling with pneumonia. Our farrier is here tomorrow! Supposed to be pretty out!

Your donations have really helped!

Well, it has been a roller coaster. I became very sick and ended up with double pneumonia. I have been sick for months and now have pluerisy, which is a super pain condition where there is air in the lining of my lungs.

I'm getting better and cannot thank my volunteers enough for keeping everyone fed and stalls cleaned.

Slowly getting better better I have not been able to teach for 2 months.

We could really use donations to help during this time!!
