Lisa Sterling serves as the Communications Director for Wagon Tails Farm Rescue. She has a strong passion for animals—especially crazy cattle dogs—and brings that enthusiasm to spreading the word about all the amazing things WTFR is accomplishing.

Lisa started out as a foster when she and her husband found a stray they couldn't care for on their own. Thanks to Wagon Tails, their home and hearts have grown to 9 dogs! While she knows they can't save every dog themselves, Lisa hopes to contribute even more through her position with WTFR.

Meet the faces behind the scenes:

Danielle Best serves as the Community Outreach Director for Wagon Tails Farm Rescue. Her journey with WTFR began when the pet pantry opened in Kenansville, right in her backyard. Having called Duplin County home for the past 9 years, she has seen firsthand how much support the local community needs when it comes to caring for beloved animals.

Because of this, Danielle is passionate about expanding outreach programs to make an even bigger impact for the people and pets who need it most. She is powered by love and her chaotic crew: three dogs (Cocoa Chanel #5, Scooter Rooter Rudy Roo III, and Tater Tot), one kitty (Salem, a.k.a. Swamp A), and a very patient husband who loves them all. Together with the team, she loves making a difference in the community.

"I wish people could understand the hurt and strain they cause when they abandon an animal; not just on the animal but on those of us who are left cleaning up their mess."

In just the last 30 days, we’ve taken in puppies dumped at store doors, a dog struggling with fly strike and puncture wounds, and an 8-week-old puppy with severe head trauma. To be completely honest: we are exhausted and broken, right alongside them.

Abandonment is never the solution—it’s a sentence. But even in the heartbreak, we aren't backing down.

Meet the faces behind the scenes:

Kelsey Mills serves as the Adoption Director for Wagon Tails Farm Rescue. Originally from southeastern North Carolina, she enjoys being involved in efforts that serve her local community. She is deeply passionate about promoting animal welfare, advancing veterinary care, and helping animals find their forever homes.

Outside of rescue work, Kelsey spends her free time kayaking, fishing, and hanging out with her two cats, Tucker and Gracie. Tucker is an orange tabby who loves to assist in the garden while wearing his harness and leash, while Gracie is a brown tabby ball of energy who always has big things to say.
