Marriage can bring moments of uncertainty, disappointment, and fear. We worry about our spouse, our struggles, our future, and whether things will ever change. We replay conversations, dwell on hurts, and wonder how we can fix what feels broken.
But worrying won’t restore a struggling marriage. Trying to control our spouse won’t change their heart. And focusing on everything they need to change can distract us from the one person God has given us the responsibility to work on first — ourselves.
Faith in Jesus changes everything.
When we surrender our worries to Him, He reminds us that we are not alone. He gives us wisdom when we don’t know what to do, patience when we feel frustrated, grace when we’ve been hurt, and the strength to love when loving is difficult.
We may not be able to change our spouse, but we can allow God to change us. We can choose to respond with kindness instead of criticism, listen instead of defend, forgive instead of hold on to resentment, and pray instead of worry.
That doesn’t mean ignoring problems or pretending everything is okay. It means trusting God enough to do our part faithfully while leaving the results in His hands.
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
A stronger marriage begins when two people stop trying to control each other and start allowing God to work in their own hearts.
Instead of worrying about what your spouse will do today, ask God, “Lord, what do You want to change in me today so I can love my spouse more like You love me?”
You may not be able to change your marriage overnight, but with Jesus, you can take the next faithful step toward a healthier, more Christ-centered relationship.
Worry focuses on what might go wrong. Faith trusts the One who walks with us through it all. ❤️
