FROM QUIET FIELDS TO COBBLESTONE STREETS

Some of the best adventures are the ones that take you somewhere entirely new — without taking you far from home. The QC Plus 60 Club is pleased to offer a day trip that does just that, winding from the peaceful Amish countryside of Kalona to the lively streets of Cedar Rapids' Czech Village and New Bohemia district, wrapping up at the beloved NewBo City Market.

Our day begins on October 2 at 8AM with pick-ups in Moline and Davenport to arrive in Kalona, Iowa — just 20 miles south of Iowa City and home to one of the largest Amish and Mennonite communities west of the Mississippi. A back-roads tour takes us past farms, one-room schoolhouses, and Amish homes, with stops at local country shops where handcrafted goods, some of which are generations old and homegrown, and delightful homemade products line every shelf.

We will have the opportunity to see the production line for those famous cheese curds, a sixth generation Amish furniture maker and a sweet stop at an Amish bakery

Peace of Mind: Organizing Your Final Documents

Plus 60 Senior Lifestyles is hosting an informative and practical educational event for Plus 60 members, designed to help prepare for the future with confidence and clarity. Titled “What Documents Will the Kids Need When I’m Gone?”, this session focuses on organizing essential paperwork and ensuring loved ones have what they need when it matters most.

Cody Allen, President of Tower Trust & Investment Company, will share practical guidance for getting organized, along with ideas for simplifying the process and avoiding common pitfalls. This session will include time for questions, offering attendees the opportunity to address their individual concerns.

This educational event will be offered at two convenient locations and dates. In Iowa, the presentation will be presented twice:
• In Iowa the session will be held on Tuesday, July 21 at The Summit, 4699 53rd Avenue, Bettendorf, Iowa.
• In Illinois, the session will be held on Thursday, July 23 at Western Illinois University, 3300 River Drive, Moline, Illinois.
• Both events are free and will begin at 1:00 p.m. Registration is required so that we can plan appropriate handouts and refreshments.
Designed specifically with seniors in mind, this event provides a supportive and welcoming environment where important topics can be discussed openly. Participants will leave with a practical checklist and the confidence to take the next steps in organizing their affairs.

Putt Putt Golf at the Forge

Meet at The Forge Putting Course features four massiveputting surfaces offering 18 fun and engaging holes, suited for golfers and thrill seekers alike. Beginners, avid golfers, and friends can all share in the excitement at The Forge.

Stay afterwards and enjoy another cool beverage or a bite to eat at the Clubhouse.
Admission is $7 and putters and balls are available to use at no charge. No pre-registration required – just show up at 5:15.

Hike at West Lake Park, A scenic 3-mile Hike in Davenport, IA

Join Plus 60 for a hike at West Lake Part. Meet us at Gate 2 parking lot just off 110th Ave. Tuesday July 14, 2026 at 10am where you’ll find ample parking and easy access to the trailhead. There is no entrance fee.
As you embark on your tree-mile hike, prepare to be captivated by the diverse flora and fauna that West Lake Park has to offer. The trail is well-marked and features a mix of paved and natural surfaces, ensuring a great hiking experience. The first leg of the hike meanders alongside the lake, providing stunning views of the water and surrounding wildlife. Look for ducks, geese and various birds that call the park home. Parking and restroom facilities are available.
We suggest that you wear good supportive hiking shoes, choose appropriate attire for July weather, be in good physical condition for walking and be used to hiking on natural surfaces. Please bring your own water, snack and sun screen. This is considered a level 5 hike; you will experience some steep hills. Registration is not required. Contact Linda at 563-468-9862 for questions.
