Yesterday was a great day to be a Bettendorf Kiwanian. We had 15 members and two guests. State Senator Mike Zimmer, a former Bettendorf Kiwanis member, came and shared some of what’s been happening at the state capital. We also approved to give $400 to three local causes. Join us as a guest at the Bettendorf YMCA at noon on Tuesday sometime soon to see more of what's happening.

Tuesday, February 18, Bettendorf Kiwanis Club is meeting at the Bettendorf YMCA for lunch and a presentation by Kevin Pennekamp Pleasant Valley School District technology director to talk about AI. I look forward to learning more.

I’m excited to ring in the new year with our first 2025 Kiwanis club meeting. Chad is our speaker chair this month and tomorrow will be Haleigh Hoyt (Bettendorf) and Mary Johnson (PV), Career Readiness Coordinators. I’m looking forward to hearing about opportunities youth in our community have to prepare for their future.

Happy Thanksgiving week!

At this week’s meeting, Dr. Mike Puthoff will join us. He is the Director of Physical Therapy at Saint Ambrose University. He will speak on physical fitness throughout different stages of life.

Tomorrow at our meeting Tony Knobbe, the Scott County Treasurer, will be joining us. He will be giving a presentation on local taxes. Great chance to ask questions and better understand your tax bill. Hope to see you there!

This past week the Lieutenant Governor of Eastern Iowa came and installed officers and welcomed new members.

The Lieutenant Governor of our Kiwanis region, David Franz, will be joining us this week at our meeting for installation of 2025 officers and welcoming of new members, Andrew Miller and Michelle Morse.

It is an opportunity to celebrate our club. I look forward to seeing you there!
