Over the last 3 weeks, the Terry Fund has posted the availability of pumper engines, ambulances, and various equipment. Along with those postings, we direct readers to the website for instructions. Different requests have different directions. All directions are clearly written in 8th-grade English, so most people can read and understand them. The Fund has received 6 properly mailed letters.
HOWEVER, the Fund also received 10 emails, two in Spanish, 2 vehicle request forms that aren't accepted, and 2 calls from a chief who isn't very bright.
Some directions require filling out the request form, and some require a written letter on department letterhead signed by someone with designated authority. None of the directions include emails, Facebook posts, or phone calls.
So if you ever wonder why people who don't follow these extremely simple directives or can't read, or decide they are important enough for the Fund to return the mindless phone messages like," This is Chief, not too bright; call me back," wonder no longer.

ONCE YOU GET TO THAT TAB (PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME), THEN TRY TO FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS REGARDING WHAT YOU ARE REQUESTING. IF YOU DON'T GET THAT FAR, THINK ABOUT BRINGING A LAWSUIT AGAINST YOUR STATE'S EDUCATION SYSTEM.
