Sometimes the first step toward feeling better is simply recognizing that something isn’t right.

October 8 is National Depression Screening Day, a reminder that mental health deserves the same attention we give our physical health.

Depression doesn’t always look like sadness. It can also show up as exhaustion, irritability, difficulty concentrating, changes in sleep or appetite, or losing interest in things you once enjoyed.

If you’ve been struggling, consider talking with a healthcare professional or completing a mental health screening.

Reaching out for support is a step forward. đź’š

Mental illness affects individuals, families, workplaces and communities but no one should have to navigate it alone.

This week is an opportunity to learn, listen, talk openly about mental health and remind the people around us that support is available.

Together, we can replace stigma with understanding and isolation with connection.

Nearly 1,000 people came together for this year’s Out of the Darkness Walk, each with their own reason for being there, but united by hope and a commitment to su***de prevention. 💚

We’re grateful to everyone who walked, shared their story, remembered someone they love, supported a survivor, or simply showed up to remind others that they are not alone.

Thank you, Rep. Mike Schlossberg, for continuing to use your voice to advocate for mental health and su***de prevention in our community.

Hope matters. Connection matters. And continuing the conversation matters.
