After four years with Wildlands as our Director of Development—and more than three decades of nonprofit management and fundraising experience—please join us in congratulating Jackie Jones on her retirement!

Jackie leaves an incredible mark on Wildlands and our mission. Through her leadership and dedication, she helped generate critical resources that support our conservation and education work, strengthening our ability to make a lasting difference in our community. Her work will continue to impact Wildlands and the places and people we serve for many years to come.

Her positivity, perspective, humor, and ability to make just about everyone smile have been a true gift to our organization and our community.

Thank you, Jackie, for everything you have given to Wildlands. We wish you a wonderful retirement.

Here’s an update on 🌊 Stream Restoration along Silk Mill Run in Jim Thorpe.

✅ 5/5 dams removed, restoring a milestone of 1.5 miles of natural flow along this important tributary towards reconnection with the Lehigh River.

✅ Eastern brook trout is one of the species benefited by wildlife improvements in this Class A, cold-water stream.

✅ Spring salamanders are benefited by this stream restoration work, too!

NOW OPEN! That trail is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. After undergoing construction, the 🔹 Cerulean Trail at 📍 Thomas Darling Preserve is now OPEN! Explore: https://www.wildlandspa.org/preserve/thomas-darling-preserve/

What inspired the name Cerulean Trail? This trail winds through a landscape managed for a threatened bird species, the cerulean warbler. Large trees form a fairly dense canopy, while the thick vegetation regenerates below, creating a mix of mature forest with shrubby understory.

Over the weekend, we gathered for W**e & Dine at “The Barn,” St. Luke’s Anderson Campus Conference Center, surrounded by rolling cornfields and a warmth that could only be felt by the Wildlands Conservancy on a rainy day. We have a saying: "There's no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear," but having GREAT company can bring a sense of sunshine even on a rainy day.

Every W**e & Dine, each farm-to-table dinner supports our mission of protecting natural spaces and places in the Lehigh Valley and Lehigh River watershed. That's a reason to say "Cheers!"

Hey! Veronica here! 👋 When I'm not bringing you regularly scheduled social media content, you can find me at Wildlands Conservancy's Wild Mushroom Forays. I'm here to share our fungi friends' photos from Sunday at Leaser Lake. We had so mush fun thanks to being joined by great company who all had great eyes for finding fungi.

A few fun finds:
🧡 The orange bile Russula or Russula mutabilis with the rosecomb mutation which formed a tiny mushroom on top of the big mushroom.
💙 The blue and white mushroom later identified as an anise-scented Collybia odora was a first-time find for me. It totally smells like licorice!
☃️ And of course, we can't forget Puff the Magic Snowman, made out of Calvatia gigantea or the aptly named giant puffball. Thank you to our friends for bringing that in!

Fungi are just one part of our fascinating, natural world! Your support makes curiousity and discovery possible all across the Lehigh Valley and Lehigh River watershed.
