One of the nation’s most prominent travel publications, Travel + Leisure, recently asked five travel experts where to celebrate America's 250th birthday, and their answer was Pennsylvania. Beyond the Philadelphia crowds, the magazine pointed travelers to Bethlehem as the place to experience Revolutionary history at a more relaxed pace.

Discover why for yourself on Bethlehem & the Revolution, HBMS’s new walking tour created to commemorate the nation's 250th birthday. Visit the 1762 Waterworks, America's first pumped municipal water system. Stand where the Second Single Brethren's House twice served as a Continental Army hospital, caring for over 400 sick and wounded soldiers, Learn about the Marquis de Lafayette’s stay in Bethlehem as he recovered from wounds received at Brandywine, and discover why John Adams called it a "curious and remarkable town” when writing to his wife, Abigal, in 1777.

Tours take place Fridays and Sundays at 3 p.m. through August. Purchase tickets by Saturday, June 20 and save 25% with promo code BETHLEHEM250 at checkout. The code also applies to our Ales & Tales Revolutionary Pub Walking Tour.

Reserve your spot today since tickets are limited. See the link in the comments or get tickets at the Schropp Dry Goods Shoppe on Main Street.

The year is 1776, and independence is not yet assured. But inside the “Colonial Tavern,” the evening belongs to good food, good company, and a few surprises.

On Thursday, June 18, Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites and Historic Hotel Bethlehem — the nation's No. 1 Historic Hotel — present Liberty & Lanterns: An Evening of Food, Stories & Surprises.

Sign the "Declaration of Independence" with a quill pen, meet Dr. Benjamin Franklin and explore his experiments, and chat with soldiers from both sides of the war who've set their differences aside for the night.

Start by raising a glass of Fish House Punch — a Pennsylvania classic with a reputation; legend says George Washington couldn't write in his diary for three days after trying it. Then sit down to a three-course dinner with options that include chicken fricassee, deconstructed short rib pot pie, halibut with spring pea risotto, and a vegetarian risotto with wild mushrooms.

Tickets to this once-in-every 250 years evening at the Hotel Bethlehem include hors d'oeuvres, dinner, and your first drink ticket. Get your tickets now at https://tinyurl.com/ycx2zurs before they’re gone!

EXCITING NEWS! Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites has been awarded $75,000 to begin the next phase of restoration work on the 1761 Tannery in the Colonial Industrial Quarter — the only extant 18th-century Moravian industrial building in the world. The grant, secured by State Rep. Steve Samuelson through Pennsylvania's Local Share Account grant program, will allow HBMS to start restoration work this summer on the building, an important component of the Moravian Church Settlements - Bethlehem
World Heritage Site.

When the Tannery reopens, it will become an integral part of HBMS programming, including Birthplace of Industry tours, the new Maker's Retreats, student programs and Community Heritage Day in April. Thank you to Rep. Steve Samuelson and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for supporting this important restoration project.

Step into 1776 — and raise a glass of Fish House Punch while you're at it!

Celebrate America's 250th birthday with Liberty & Lanterns: An Evening of Food, Stories & Surprises. It’s a one-of-a-kind dining experience on Thursday, June 18, at , the No. 1 Historic Hotel in the nation.

Your evening begins the moment you step off the elevator into a Colonial Tavern, where Benjamin Franklin himself is waiting, scientific experiments in hand.

Chat with a Continental Army soldier and a loyal member of His Majesty's 43rd Regiment of Foot, two opposing forces who've set aside their differences for one unforgettable night.
Test your 18th-century knowledge with the Artifact Challenge, the crowd-favorite historic object matching game. Then raise a glass of Fish House Punch and drink like the Founding Fathers.

The evening continues in the hotel’s candlelit Grand Ballroom with a three-course dinner featuring contemporary takes on colonial-era favorites, with costumed guests and knowledgeable companions bringing the past thrillingly to life all around you.
