Aunt Helen's Cats In Need

Aunt Helen's Cats In Need We are a 501c3 cat rescue who's primary focus is TNR, spay neuter & financial vet bill assistance. Visit us at www.ahcinf.org for more info

We partner with local rescues, vets and provide trapping resources for strays and lost pets. Aunt Helen's Cats In Need is local network of volunteer TNR trappers and fosters of stray and feral cats and kittens. We are registered as a 501c3 nonprofit. Your donations are tax deductible as defined under the IRS Code. We are not an animal shelter. Along with our sister organization, Lets Trap Around

the Lehigh Valley, we primarily focus on providing trapping assitance for TNR in Lehigh and Northampton Counties. We organize a weekly TNR clinic to help reduce the stray cat and kitten numbers and trap/transfer/recover strays for multiple community rescues or shelters that have TNR contracts with local municipalities . We also provide support to community cat caretakers - feeder/caretaker education/assistance, medical resources, community education and where possible, limited orphan kitten/cat rescue for strays and ferals other rescues are unable to take. All expenses, for the most part, come out of our own pockets. Finding suitable and loving forever homes for the adoptable felines, insuring the long term care for our TNR colonies and reducing the numbers of stray cats in our communities is our goal. We can be reached at 484-225-3586. Donate via PayPal or watch our page for community events where you can stop by with donations

🐱 Toxoplasmosis is one of the MOST misunderstood diseases linked to cats — and unfortunately, misinformation online often creates unnecessary fear around our feline companions 💔

Toxoplasmosis is caused by a microscopic parasite called Toxoplasma gondii. While cats are the definitive hosts, most infected cats show NO visible signs at all and continue living perfectly normal lives 🩺

In humans, the parasite is especially important during pregnancy and in people with weakened immune systems. But here’s something many people don’t realize 👇

⚠️ The parasite is NOT usually spread by casually touching or loving your cat.

In fact, undercooked meat, contaminated soil, unwashed vegetables, and poor hygiene are major sources of human infection worldwide.

Another important fact:
Toxoplasma oocysts usually need 1–5 days in the environment before becoming infective — which is why DAILY litter cleaning and proper hygiene make a huge difference 🧼

The good news? ❤️
With simple precautions like:
✔ cleaning litter boxes daily
✔ feeding cooked/commercial diets
✔ avoiding raw meat
✔ washing hands properly
✔ keeping cats indoors

…the risk can be greatly reduced.

Education is important — but fear should never replace facts 🐾

Love your cat. Protect your family. And always trust evidence-based veterinary medicine over internet myths.

This is true of every single rescue in the valley. Every kitten season we drown in calls for not just babies but adults and hospice and injured strays. If we say no, please know it’s because we cannot irresponsibly say yes to cats we don’t have fosters or funds to responsibly vet.

If we take everything, we help no one. Please be patient with us and remember spay neuter and adopt from rescues who take their cats back because it’s the only thing that can prevent a lot of this suffering .

Do you guys want to know the hardest part about doing this whole non-profit thing? Having to say 'no'. The fact of the matter is, our reach has grown so much that even intaking from active TNR colonies is a struggle. We get dozens of messages, emails, personal texts each day and MOST of these are litters of kittens.

Having to say no to those in need is absolutely the hardest thing we need to do. We want to do more. We want to have endless resources, but we simply do not. This is rescue and this is endless heartache.

We are so thankful to our supporters and the community for helping fund us to do what we already do and thankful for the ones we can say 'yes' to like King George.

So reminders to be kind to those in animal rescue who face these hard conversations Every. Single. Day.
