Join me as I facilitate a World Cafe ® experience on March 20, 5:30 PM at the LV Health Network.
The Eastern PA Chapter of ASTD (American Society for Training and Development) is hosting this opportunity to network, dine and play. Who can benefit? Everyone!
However, I would recommend it for anyone who participates in groups: if you run meetings, work in a company that is exploring/experiencing change, lead a team, involved in non-profit organizations, collaborate with others to generate ideas, participate in mastermind groups and more. This is method of creating inclusiveness and and a foundation for sharing from the heart. I'm thrilled I get to share with you a favorite way to engage others to explore. I love this. Simple yet powerful. The story and metaphor is spot on. What situation can you remember (past or more recent) that resulted that directly or indirectly resulted in being happy?

Once a group of 500 people were attending a seminar. Suddenly the speaker stopped and decided to do a group activity. He started giving each person a balloon. Each person was then asked to write their name on it using a marker pen. Then all the balloons were collected and put in another room.

The people were then let into that room and asked to find the balloon which had their name written on it within 5 minutes. Everyone was frantically searching for their name, colliding with each other, pushing around others and there was utter chaos.

At the end of 5 minutes no one could find their own balloon.
Then, the speaker asked each person to randomly collect a balloon and give it to the person whose name was written on it. Within minutes everyone had their own balloon.

The speaker then began, "This is happening in our lives. Everyone is frantically looking for happiness all around, not knowing where it is.

Our happiness lies in the happiness of other people. Give them their happiness; you will get your own happiness. And this is the purpose of human life...the pursuit of happiness."

Lunchtime Lesson: the gift of wisdom from a bow and arrow. The whole process of picking up the arrow, making the connection of arrow to bow, drawing back and aiming - then the release. All relatable to life. Where do you find yourself today - have you drawn back the arrow and holding or have you released?

If you played sports or watched the olympics this month, if you remember, when scores were announced, you'd often here "that's a personal best for ….."
This quote reflects beautifully that your most fierce competition is YOU. You are not like anyone else in the world. You can want to aspire to want and desire attributes that someone else has, and yet truly the gold that we are after is to know who we are at our deepest core and bring that forward in the most authentic way to be the best of our best. That is what we deserve of ourselves, what others deserve from us and, I think, what God asks of us. Be faithful, serve from love, see others as ourselves. And seek to evolve to what you were always meant to be if only you give your Spirit the opportunity to soar. :D

When I was a high school motivational speaker in the late 90's, so often the students would hear me say, "Talent leads." I have found in both my own life and in others, that we find ourselves in occupations for many reasons. Even early on going to school and studying majors and yet finding work outside those areas. The juice is in what we are passionate about. We each deeply desire to do something that is meaningful and taps into the divine talents and gifts we've been given at birth. Passion leads to purpose.

Out of an amazing Olympic week, came commercials that inspired and hit the mark. Many stood out - like this one from Kellogs:

"From great starts come great things."

As Monday is the beginning of a new week, may your start be as invigorating as the feeling of accomplishment. Whether you are working on a project, contract, finishing up on a goal, solving problems, or dreaming up something new, I wish you all a great entrance into the week!
