PASSED - COLA Legislation - Ad hoc Post Retirement Adjustment

Thanks to over a decade of work by the Pennsylvania State Lodge Legislative Committee, the first municipal police pension COLA in 24 years has been approved. Effective August 1, 2026, retirees will receive $75/month ($900/year) after 5–10 years of retirement, $150/month ($1,800/year) after 10–20 years, and $300/month ($3,600/year) after 20+ years. While smaller than hoped, this long-overdue increase is an important step forward for our retired officers. Pension systems may take 90 days or longer to process the changes.

📰The Fraternal Order of Police State Lodge today thanked lawmakers in the House and Senate for passing legislation that provides a long-overdue cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for retired police officers and firefighters across the commonwealth.

From homicide investigations to missing children, K-9 teams are often called when every second matters.

Between August 2025 and May 2026, Matt Petrof and K-9 Rip assisted Pennsylvania State Police troops and local agencies on a wide range of critical incidents, including burglaries, bank robberies, homicides, missing persons, and runaway juveniles.

Together, they tracked across mountains, dense woods, rivers, and city streets to locate suspects, recover key evidence, and find vulnerable individuals in need of help. In several major investigations, including homicide cases, K-9 Rip played a pivotal role in locating both suspects and victims.

This is the power of a highly trained K-9 team: relentless determination, extraordinary skill, and the ability to make the difference when lives are on the line.
