Big things are taking shape at The Children’s Inn! 💫

Last week, our CEO, Jennie Cikanek Lucca, joined NBC Washington to talk about The Inn of Tomorrow — our vision for the future of The Inn and the families who call it home while their children receive care at the National Institutes of Health.

The Inn of Tomorrow represents an exciting new chapter for The Inn, creating more opportunities to welcome families, foster connection and community, and continue providing a place like home during some of the most challenging moments in their lives.

We’re grateful to NBC4 Washington for giving Jennie the opportunity to share a look at what’s ahead. At the heart of The Inn of Tomorrow is the same mission that has always guided us: making sure families have a place like home when they need it most. 💙

We are so grateful for our partnership with National Cancer Institute!

Nearly one-third of all visits to The Children’s Inn this last fiscal year were from families seeking care for pediatric cancer. Those families participated in more than 40 study protocols representing a wide range of oncology, rare tumor, immunology, transplant, and genetic disease research. We salute all the incredible researchers, clinicians, and staff who care for our families and are on the forefront of advancing pediatric discovery.

Though Childhood Cancer Awareness Month has come to an end, The Children’s Inn will continue to honor and serve the children, adolescents, and young adults (AYAs) affected by these diseases.

The Children's Inn at NIH provides free lodging, meals, and support programs for children with rare diseases enrolled in NIH clinical research studies. A place like home.

⚽️✨ A little soccer magic came to The Inn!

Earlier this month, Washington Spirit players Paige Metayer and Gabby Carle stopped by for a fun-filled day with our Inn families! 💙

From hosting bingo 🎉 and handing out Spirit and soccer-themed prizes 🏆 to signing autographs ✍️ and cheering on our guests, Paige and Gabby brought plenty of smiles to The Inn.

And, of course, no visit to The Inn is complete without some playground time! ⚽️ Paige and Gabby joined our Inn kids outside for some games, laughs, and plenty of fun.

A little creativity, a little learning, and a whole lot of fun! 🍪📚

Our families got creative with KiwiCo, decorating mini cakes while learning about fractions, then gathered in the Playroom for a special reading of Nora Escapes the Bakery with author Devans Eli.

Of course, no bakery adventure would be complete without some sweet treats! Families made their own cookie characters and went home with a copy of the book to enjoy together.

Thank you, Devans Eli, for spending the day with our families and making storytime extra sweet! ❤️

Yesterday Falcon and Fig invited Inn Families to their restaurant to enjoy a wonderful dinner and take a tour of their restaurant. Inn Families got a VIP experience and loved getting to see how their delicious dishes were made when they toured the kitchen.
