Advocacy gets results! Thanks to the relentless efforts of APMA, the Washington State Podiatric Medical Association and engaged WSPMA members, and Oregon Podiatric Medical Association, Regence has officially decided not to move forward with their proposed Modifier 25 payment cuts.
Now, we need to bring this same momentum to the federal level. Jeffrey Lehrman, DPM, CPC, break down this major win, then visit apma.org/eAdvocacy to send your comment letter urging CMS to rescind their proposed Modifier 25 cuts nationwide.

Podiatric grassroots advocacy efforts have been front and center during this year's August Congressional Recess! New York podiatrist, Stephanie Hook, DPM, recently met with the office of Congressman John Mannion (D-NY). Discussions focused on the disastrous implications of CMS's proposed 50% payment reduction to same-day services, the need for a permanent inflationary update to Medicare physician payment, and the importance of reforming outdated administrative burdens that limit timely access to foot and ankle care.

These opportunities help lawmakers and their staff understand how federal policies impact podiatric practices and their constituents receiving care there. Interested in sharing your expertise with elected officials? Reach out to APMA's advocacy team at [email protected]!

Foot health and heart health are deeply intertwined. At the APMA 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting last month in Nashville, we were pleased to host representatives of the Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Collaborative for important conversations to move stakeholder efforts from the awareness outreach phase to direct action. This PAD Awareness Month, we recognize the more than 10 million Americans living with this disease and reiterate our commitment to the patients we serve.

For a third time this week, APMA returned to the White House complex to press our advocacy against CMS’s proposed cuts to same-day care.
Joined by a coalition of more than 20 national medical specialty societies, APMA met with White House Domestic Policy Council staff to underscore the real-world consequences these cuts could have for physicians, practices, and patients.

APMA Chief Medical Officer Dyane Tower, DPM, was one of just three physicians selected to present directly to White House staff, ensuring the podiatric perspective was represented at the table.

APMA will continue to stand with other physician partners and advocate for policies that protect patient access to care and support the physicians who provide it.
