Reed Society for Sacred Arts We are dedicated to promoting a renewed appreciation for sacred arts from various traditions. Please come visit often.

The Reed Society for the Sacred Arts was formed upon the realization that any successful society must love, nurture, and partake in the arts for it to flourish. Our focus is on the various forms of art that ignite the love and longing for the Divine, each teacher lighting the inner candle of his student, the student rising up and teaching her students, generation after generation, a continuous flowing, through time. We hope to inform you of events as well as to inspire you to remember the Divine.

Wow what gorgeous piece and enjoy the translation as per Dr Alan Godlas:
Neither does this moment* remain,
nor does grief remain!
God is the One-Who-Remains!
نه دم باقی
نه غم باقی
هوالباقی

Ne dem baki Ne gam baki Hü’vel Baki
—
*The Persian word “dam” دم (Ottoman Turkish, pronounced “dem”) means both “moment” and “breath.” In some contexts, one or the other meaning may be clearly intended. Here, however, whether “moment” or “breath” is intended is not crystal clear. Nevertheless, since what is intended is the emphasis on impermanence, I prefer the translation of “this moment.” Other than these two translations, other possible renderings are “the moment,” “the breath,” “this breathing moment,” “this moment’s breath.”

Found so much inspiration this weekend on our visit to the . First image: The Tyrian glass was a specialized color Carder named after the ancient city of Tyre (in present-day Lebanon), which was famous for distilling purple pigment from the dehydrated mucous glands of sea snails.
Tyrian is an opaque glass. Its variation in color is determined by heat exposure: the longer the glass was reheated and reworked, the darker the color became. Second image:Presented against a background of dark purple glass, this landscape shows the flora and fauna of the Nile River. Third image: sculpt by American Karen LaMonte Last image which reminded me of the Bruncusi’s Flight of Birds was titled Endeavor by
Lino Tagliapietra (Italian, born 1934)
