Continuing the series highlighting the talents within
Each functional piece or sculpture tells a unique story of creativity, passion and clay covered hands.
🎨 Artist Natalia Kormeluk makes wheel-thrown functional pottery, where surface treatments merge traditional slip-trailing with contemporary glaze techniques. Deeply influenced by 18th and 19th century slipware and the practices of age-old Ukrainian village potters, her work bridges past and present.
Texture plays a vital role, emphasized by glaze movement and variation, and each mark made on the surface is a balance of function, decoration and meaning. She uses a range of cone 6 clay bodies and her process is both methodical and intuitive. These everyday objects are more that utilitarian; they become carriers of memory, connection and culture 🕊️
