Today we remember Ted Turner — not only as a media pioneer, but as someone deeply committed to protecting the planet.
Long before sustainability became mainstream, Turner invested in land conservation, wildlife restoration, renewable energy, and environmental education. His belief that we are all caretakers of this Earth helped inspire generations to think bigger about conservation and our shared future.
May his legacy continue to remind us that protecting the environment is not a political issue — it’s a human one. 🌎💚

It is with deep respect that we share the passing of Ted Turner, founder of Ted Turner Reserves. He passed peacefully at the age of 87.

Ted believed in something simple and powerful:

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘂𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿.

Because of that belief, bison roam, rivers run clear, and wild places like Vermejo, Armendaris, Ladder, and Sierra Grande continue to thrive.

I had the privilege of working alongside Ted and witnessing his commitment to the land and to future generations. What he built was remarkable. What he restored was even more important.

To those of you who have walked our trails, spent quiet time on these landscapes, or felt something shift while being here—you’ve experienced his legacy.

We will carry it forward with the same integrity, courage, and care that he inspired in all of us.

Ted, we will miss you pal.

After decades of conservation efforts, green sea turtles are no longer classified as endangered. The have been recently reclassified them from “endangered” to “least concern,” thanks to global actions protecting nesting females, reducing unsustainable harvest, and limiting accidental capture in fishing gear.

“This recovery is a powerful example of what coordinated global conservation over decades can achieve,” says Roderic Mast of IUCN’s Marine Turtle Specialist Group.

While this is a major conservation win, some populations remain at risk, and ongoing protection is crucial to ensure green turtles continue to thrive worldwide.

The Arctic just recorded its hottest year in 125 years, with shrinking sea ice and record-breaking precipitation, according to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) . Once known as the “world’s refrigerator,” this region is now heating up up to four times faster than the global average, with winter rain and melting glaciers changing life for people and wildlife alike.

🌊 Why it matters:

Oldest, thickest sea ice has declined over 95% since the 1980s.

Greenland lost 129 billion tons of ice in 2025, contributing to rising sea levels.

Polar ecosystems and global climate patterns are being disrupted.

“This year has really underscored what is to come,” says Arctic scientist Matthew Langdon Druckenmiller. Winter, as we know it, is being redefined.
