February invited us to return to vision —
vision for children, for families, and for systems that truly serve.

At SEE US: Special Education Excellence for Underserved Students, vision is not abstract. It is activated through advocacy, strengthened by community, and sustained through philanthropy that centers equity and access.

When advocacy is guided by vision, families gain clarity.
When philanthropy is guided by purpose, impact deepens.
And when communities come together, futures shift.

As we close this month, we carry February’s lessons forward — with intention, partnership, and continued commitment to what’s possible.

Black History Month reminds us that progress is not accidental — it is envisioned, advocated for, and carried forward by communities who refuse to stop seeing what’s possible.

At SEE US, we remain committed to advancing equity in special education by supporting families with clarity, compassion, and expert advocacy.
The future is built by those willing to see it first.

Vision for your child also includes vision for yourself.

So many parents of children with special needs are taught to disappear — to carry everything without support. That isn’t sustainable, and it isn’t just.

Caring for yourself is not a distraction from advocacy.
It’s part of it.

This month, we continue to remind parents: your wellness, clarity, and capacity matter too.

SEE US star 🌟 moment at . SEE US presented Ms. Daria Hall with a Referral award as part of our Five-Year Celebration. Her work as a former XMinds Board Member and BIPOC committee leader contributed the most referrals to SEE US across 2024 and 2025. Thanks again, Daria Hall, for your commitment to connecting families with resources and our model equity program, SEE US Advocacy.

Before seeing Daria, I recorded some encouraging messages for our new SEE US parent online course. A special clip singing along to “Enjoy Yourself” by the Jacksons—-how appropriate! (chosen by Starbucks playlist☺️)

Starbucks is recognizing . You might recall we celebrated with Starbucks for Disability Awareness Month in 2024. A good place to connect for community awareness and connection.

Grateful to spend the evening with families at Drew Elementary STEAM Night ✨

It was a joy connecting with parents and community members alongside school leadership — including Principal Meredith Casper and Community School Coordinator Shameka Green — to share conversations about advocacy, partnership, and supporting students beyond the classroom.

Events like these remind us how powerful it is when schools, families, and advocates come together around learning, curiosity, and access.

Thank you to the Drew community for the warm welcome and meaningful dialogue.

So much of special education pushes families to act quickly — to respond, decide, and advocate under pressure.

But clarity doesn’t come from urgency. It comes from understanding, reflection, and support.

When parents are given space to slow down and truly see their child's strengths, needs, and possibilities, decisions feel steadier, and advocacy becomes more grounded.

Support changes everything.

Black History Month is a reminder that Black families have always been visionaries.

Long before systems recognized our children, Black parents, caregivers, and communities were imagining futures rooted in dignity, education, and possibility. That legacy of vision and protection continues today.

As February begins, SEE US honors the role parents play as leaders in their child’s educational journey — seeing beyond labels, beyond fear, and beyond limitation.

This month, we create space to envision what’s possible — together.
