Founded in 1959, Cedar Lane Nursery School is a co-operative play-based nursery school where parents and teachers collaborate to create a joyful educational experience for children. Our teaching philosophy emphasizes child-initiated, teacher-supported play in a nurturing environment to foster autonomy, positive self-esteem, and essential pre-academic skills. By investing time and energy, co-oping
parents gain a special opportunity to engage in their child's early childhood growth while connecting with other dedicated families in the community. This commitment benefits both the membership and the child. Cedar Lane Cooperative Nursery School is housed in the Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church, on the Bethesda/Kensington border in suburban Maryland. The building is located in a lovely wooded setting adjoining Rock Creek Park, at the intersection of Beach Drive and Cedar Lane. (We are not affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Church).
