People To People Ministries

Update: September 2, 2026 - Currently, news resources are reporting that over 1,000 people have lost their lives, and more than 3,900 are reported to still be missing.

Reports from our IPHC leaders to our office indicate that our ministers, missionaries, and local partners are safe. We know of at least one IPHC family member whose home was severely damaged, and six of our IPHC churches and their members are also affected by damage; some still have missing family members. Please continue to pray for Nepal.

On August 26, 2026, the people of Nepal suffered a massive, unexpected flood due to an avalanche in the northwestern part of the country. Many homes, hydropower projects, bridges, and other critical infrastructure have been swept away, and thousands of people are tragically affected by the ongoing flood. Because of the damage and road blockages, it's difficult for first responders to reach those in flooded areas.

While our ministers, missionaries, and local partners are safe, at least 359 people in Nepal have lost their lives, and more than 1,400 remain missing. One of our IPHC family’s homes is severely damaged, but we thank God they’re safe. We’re praying for the families of those who died and for the safety of those still missing.

People to People is now raising funds to send to our brothers and sisters in Nepal to help with the burden of immediate expenses, so they can take the next steps toward safety, health, and renewal. We hope you'll prayerfully consider whether giving to this cause is the right choice for you.

Finally, we hope you'll join us in prayer.
• Pray that the Lord would give his perfect peace to those who have lost their family members, friends, and homes.
• Pray that those who are still being found and pulled from the wreckage would find safety and healing.
• Pray for our church members, pastors, and missionaries who are currently thinking and praying about the best ways to support their neighbors during this dark time.
• Pray for the restoration of the local IPHC family's home and for the safe return of the citizens who are still missing.

Giving to our disaster relief fund will help those in Nepal to help purchase food, water, clothing, medical supplies, transportation, and other emergency supplies the community may need. Give today at https://give.iphc.org/project/ptp-disaster-relief-overseas

A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday morning, leaving a trail of destruction. The region is under a state of emergency, and the death toll has surpassed 250 as rescue efforts continue. Transportation, shipping, and communication are still limited.

Most of our IPHC churches are in northern Colombia, and we are thankful to report that they are safe and well. However, one of our IPHC congregations, Iglesia Resdiseñados in Pereira, led by Pastor Jaime and Alejandra Arroyave, is at the heart of this tragedy. They and their families are safe and did not suffer major losses. Thankfully, no church members lost their lives, although there have been severe material losses, and many people in their community have lost their homes.

Since Monday morning, Pastor Jaime and Alejandra, and their church members have been on the front lines serving their community. They have been providing food for families, helping find shelter for those who have lost their homes, removing rubble, participating in search-and-rescue efforts, and assisting their community in any way they can. Please continue praying for Colombia, Iglesia Resdiseñados, Pastor Jaime and Alejandra, and everyone affected by this devastating earthquake.

Through our People-to-People Disaster Relief Fund, we are providing financial assistance to Pastor Jaime and Alejandra, and the church as they continue meeting basic needs and helping families in their community. With your continued and faithful support of the People-to-People Disaster Relief Fund, we can stand with communities like this one and help provide practical assistance when natural disasters strike.
