To all of the flattrack riders, fans and friends…
As of the final round of the AFT series in Perris, California, the ladies of Aid to Injured Riders – AIR have made the difficult decision to step away. It’s with mixed emotions that we write this message. While we are excited for the future of flattrack we will miss visiting with everyone that came to us and worked with us. The fans, the riders and the AFT crew have made our time rewarding. We had some amazing times and we’ve had some very challenging times but we never stopped working for those who needed us. As the face of AFT changes we have decided to start enjoying the races and working on other projects that are afforded to us. Aid to Injured Riders – AIR came along in 1999 when there wasn’t a charity to support riders. We worked very hard to maintain our relationships with riders and promoters and to come up with ideas that our fans would love. Over time things have changed, politics have changed and ideas have changed but our focus was always the same. While we say we are taking a break, the remaining balance of our fund will go to the AIR Fence fund. After some time we will be back in some capacity as our hearts will always be with the flattrack scene.
We can’t recognize everyone that has helped us but we would like to extend our gratitude to them. Without these folks and their support we couldn’t have done what we did and helped those we helped. From the bottom of our hearts – we thank each and every one and look forward to seeing you at the track. Stay safe and we will see everyone in 2018.
Love,
The ladies of Aid to Injured Riders – AIR
