We were honored to be in Wilmington, NC for Kidz in Motion, connecting with professionals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families.

Our team had the opportunity to present “Stronger Together: A Systems Approach to Child Passenger Safety”—sharing ideas, experiences, and practical strategies for working together to help keep every child safer on the road. 🚗👶

We’re proud to learn alongside so many dedicated professionals and grateful for the opportunity to share our knowledge and passion for child passenger safety.

School buses are among the safest vehicles on the road. Students are actually more at risk of injury when getting on or off the bus than they are while aboard.

Slow down and leave extra following distance for school buses. Pay attention to the road, especially in residential areas during school commuting times.

Remind your child that the bus stop is not a place to run or play.

This week, about 250 youth from rural schools in Canadian County participated in ATV Ride Safe OK presentations during the County Fair School Day at the Expo Center. They learned the importance of always wearing a DOT-compliant helmet and operating the right-sized ATV for their age.

We’re excited to officially welcome eight new schools into the HSOK Program for the upcoming school year!
The HSOK program supports schools in adopting long-lasting, health-focused policies that benefit both students and families. Participating schools receive grant funding to implement wellness initiatives tailored to their school community. From promoting physical activity and nutrition to organizing a “Health University” fair for students and families, the program helps create a culture of health from the inside out.
With components like fitness testing, Healthy and Fit Advisory Committee Support, and community education, the program goes beyond the classroom to make a lasting impact.
We’re incredibly thankful for the continued support of TSET and the Oklahoma State Medical Association (OSMA) Foundation, whose funding and partnership help expand these opportunities.

Resilience in Action: The Safe Kids Oklahoma CPS Team
The Safe Kids Oklahoma CPS team knows that providing child passenger safety services sometimes requires overcoming unexpected challenges. Over the past several months, the team faced a series of setbacks that could have easily derailed their efforts to serve families across Oklahoma.

Their CPS van was vandalized, leaving the team scrambling for solutions. On another occasion, the vehicle broke down during 100+ degree Oklahoma summer temperatures. As if that weren't enough, Oklahoma's infamous winds damaged a van window during a separate incident.

Despite these obstacles, the team remained committed to their mission. By leaning on both personal and professional resources, staff found creative ways to continue traveling to car seat check events and CPS certification courses, including those held in rural communities where access to services and training is especially important.

These challenges served as a reminder that the strength of a CPS program is not found in its vehicles or equipment, but in the dedication of the people behind it. Through teamwork, perseverance, and a shared commitment to keeping children safe, the Safe Kids Oklahoma CPS team continued to show up for families and technicians when they were needed most.
Their determination is a testament to the spirit of CPS professionals everywhere: no matter the obstacle, child passenger safety remains the priority.
