The Bessemer Woman’s Club held their annual President’s Banquet at Sharon’s Coffee Company recently, kicking off their 2026-27 program year. Accepting membership dues and greeting new members, the members then enjoyed a delicious meal and fellowship.

The program featured Mandy Lake Bessemer City Manager who spoke about Iron Belt trail head project and the $227,800 grant received from the Michigan D and R Trust Fund.
The grant will help provide sidewalks , benches, drinking fountain and water filling station, landscaping, and rain garden., lighting and concrete pad for bike riding learning and ice rink as well as a
pavilion , picnic tables, and a restroom.

Goals of the project are to provide safe and comfortable access to use the trail to hike, walk, and ski.
The project is supported by not only the D and R Trust Fund grant but also other community organizations, businesses, and individuals through donations, match, and volunteering efforts.

The Bessemer Woman’s Club will be holding their September President’s Banquet which will mark the start of their 108th year of existence. It will be held on September 9, 2026 at 5:30 at Sharon’sCoffee Company and anyone interested in membership is invited to join this civic minded organization.

The membership has been very active this past year. In September we participated in the Pumpkin Fest Truck or Treat and hosted the Pumpkin Pie Social.

In December we sent Christmas cards to area nursing home residents.

In May we hosted the annual Senior Tea honoring all graduating seniors and awarded the BWC Scholarship to Sierra Anderson.

In June we hosted the Flag Day Dessert Social and Flag Retirement Ceremony in partnership with the VFW under the leadership of Jeff Burt and Boy Scouts.

In July we organized the annual Fourth of July Kiddie Parade.

During the year we have made donations to St Vincent DePaul, the Honor Flight, the Fourth of July Honor Tree, Adopt a Backpack, and gifted a patriotic tree to the VFW honoring the military, and a contribution to Marty’s Goldenaires for their trip to Washington DC for the 250th year parade.

Anyone interested in membership please PM me or contact any BWC member.
