We are a group of US Veterans of all Branches Navy, Marines, Army, Coast Guard, Air Force, and least not the Reserves. From all of the member units that band together to support each other, support our fellow Veterans No matter what Branch, and our Community with events to Both remember the things of the past I.E.Memorial Day Ceremony and our Remembrance of December 7th. As well as celebrate both
the Present The Berwyn Fireworks Show, Community Parades like the Houby Day Parade. and to prepare to celebrate the Future by going into our schools on Veterans Day to help the young people understand why it is Important to be one, and to Honor ALL Veterans. We support our Business community whenever we are asked and some do call on us for special flag raisings and retirements all over the area. One of our most important events is our Annual Sailors For Christmas is a Christmas Day Event in it's 14th year in which we bring as many as 100 young recruits from Great Lakes Naval Training Center in North Chicago, ILL to Berwyn on chartered coaches, with a Police es**rt all the way, Many communities that we pass through join in in getting this Caravan to Berwyn. They are then treated to an Old Fashioned Christmas Day rather than meals on the Mess decks and duty in the Barracks. These recruits are treated to a day of all you can eat, free cell phones to call their Families and loved ones, since many of these young Sailors have never spent a Christmas away from home. We have Video games for them to play Color TV and Video Communication with their families if they can. And Most Importunate an Old Fashioned Christmas Dinner, Turkey, Mashed potatoes and All the Fixin's served to them, by other Veterans prepared by Connie's Berwyn, IL
And before I forget they even have a Visit from Santa himself, who though tired from his efforts the night before stops by. A few weeks in the future, after Graduation they will be deployed all over the world wherever the U S Navy needs them. It is done without ANY taxpayer dollars, only with the Kind donations of our Sponsors and the tireless work of our Volunteers.
