Mike Laureto for AFFI DVP1 Running for Associated Fire Fighters of IL (AFFI) District 1 Vice President. Also, serving the members of Berwyn, IL Firefighters Local 506 as Union President.

Currently serving the members of the AFFI Districts 1/4/5 as the Northern District Trustee. Mike Laureto was elected to the AFFI as the Northern District Trustee in February of 2020 at the caucus in Aurora then elected in June of 2020 by the delegates of the 43rd Biennial Convention. Laureto was hired by the Berwyn Fire Department in 2008 and has achieved the rank of Engineer. In 2014, He was appo

inted to the position of Steward by the Local 506 Executive Board. Mike was then elected Union President of Local 506 in January of 2016 and currently holds that position. Before his career in the fire service, Laureto enlisted in the United States Navy shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001. After graduating in the top of his class, Mike was stationed in Coronado, CA where he fulfilled his duties in military intelligence as a Cryptologist and volunteered as the Coordinator of the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation at his base. In 2004, Laureto was honored to receive the Junior Sailor of the Year award at his command.

The AFFI is saddened to learn of the passing of active DeKalb Fire Fighters Local 1236 Member Juan Gasca who died off-duty on April 6th.
Although this is not an official activation, Brother Gasca was as an active member of his local and the AFFI Honor Guard.

The AFFI is saddened to learn of the Line of Duty Death of Chicago Fire Department Firefighters Union - Local 2 Brother Mike Altman who was critically injured at an extra alarm fire yesterday.
