Camp Fire Maryland and DMV

As most of you may know, the increase in mental health issues in our community continues to grow. The need for excellent resources to help build strong support for individuals, families, and groups is growing. Camp Fire has been working with Community Crisis Services INC for many years providing Camp Fire Program to youth and families, teaching Mental Health First Aid, and providing support to their work with the homeless, those experiencing violence in their families, and so much more.

Oct 16 and 17 we are assisting with their production of Disenchanted. Our children are having a small part in the pre-show as a video, our team is hosting the concession stand to support the play and we are asking our friends to add items to the silent auction.

You may wonder how you can help---Please Please spread the work so that we can have a huge attendance. Share this information with those with whom you partner, families, and more. THe flier below and attached graphic provide information on the event and the means by which to purchase tickets. YOUR SUPPORT WOULD BE AMAZING. The play itself is not geared toward kids under 13 so keep that in mind.

Celebrate the start of Children’s Mental Health Matters Month at the Bowie Ice Arena on May 1, from 6 to 8 p.m., with an evening full of fun and community connection. Enjoy free ice skating, games, activities, and access to community mental health resources.

This one-stop resource event is perfect for families, caregivers, and advocates looking to connect with mental health supports across Prince George’s County. Come out, have fun, and learn about resources that support strong, healthy families!

This event is free and open to the public. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
